I agree with everything you said. SS should not have existed in the first place but since it does we have to deal with it.
I'm also glad for SSDI but I decided against a better private disability plan when I was young, indestructible and knew that SSDI was there. I would have invested more in myself and had a much better return had I gone the private route and I would not now be dependent on the govt.
It is this feeling of being dependent on the govt that I do NOT want for my kids and future grandkids. That is a terrible thing
