Sacramento, Calif. (AP) --

A nonprofit group filed a federal lawsuit Thursday seeking a decision about whether to grant added protections for the delta smelt.

The Council for Endangered Species Act Reliability alleges the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service has failed to make a timely decision about the tiny silver fish. It filed suit in U.S. District Court in Sacramento.

Executive director Craig Manson said the federal agency should classify the threatened smelt as endangered under the Endangered Species Act.

i’m paying more for my residential water because of this.

it riles me to get into the car and be told

in an ad that there’s a “water shortage”.

there is no water shortage.

there is only the usual leftwing brain shortage.

How about better protection for California farmers?

When is the last time a smelt put a loaf of bread or a grape on your plate?

Am I wrong to want something appropriately nasty to happen to these animated turds?

I see water needed to grow crops being used to dilute the sewage from the Bay Area and I can't fathom any of their reasoning for it.

This minnow is an invasive species and is not in danger of extinction. Salmon were spawning in the head waters of the Sacramento long before the present day delta was created or the minnow invaded from the San Francisco Bay.

Do the environmentalists see the dying farms as good for the planet?

The left is oblivious. Here we are in a major recession and their worried more about minnows than their fellow man.

I believe this is all about destroying our food supply. So that we all become even more compliant and dependent.
