Attorneys for Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger yesterday responded point-by-point to the civil lawsuit filed against him by a Nevada woman accusing him of sexual assault and countersued her for unspecified damages.
In the filing, John Echeverria, Mr. Roethlisberger's Reno-based attorney, said the woman, an employee of Harrah's Lake Tahoe, willingly entered Mr. Roethlisberger's room on July 11, 2008, with plans to seduce him.
"At all times while she was in Mr. Roethlisberger's room, [the woman] acted voluntarily," Mr. Echeverria said. "Mr. Roethlisberger did not sexually assault, assault, batter, falsely imprison, or otherwise commit any crime or tort against [her]."
The 31-year-old woman, a casino host at Harrah's, filed a civil suit in Reno in July claiming Mr. Roethlisberger, who had been in Lake Tahoe for a charity golf outing, lured her into his room by saying his television wasn't working and then raped her.
The Post-Gazette does not identify alleged victims of sexual assault.
Mr. Roethlisberger has forcefully denied the accusations and attorneys for the two sides have spent the past three months trading legal filings and accusations.
Yesterday's 33-page filing, however, was the first in which Mr. Roethlisberger's legal team responded to each of the 270 specific paragraphs in his accuser's original legal complaint.

One would think rich guys would realize how vulnerable they are to suits of this type, whether justified or not.
Go Brons!
Eerily reminiscent of the Kobe case.
The comment about rich/celebrity guys not leaving themselves open to this type of action is spot on. He should have known better. What are they paying their agents 10% of their income for if they’re not advised about this type of setup?
Something in this accusation doesn’t add up. If I call the front desk and tell them the TV doesn’t work I expect the maintenance guy to show up not a woman. If he was looking for a woman to show up you would expect him to ask for towels or something from housekeeping.
And why would she show up in his room to repair a broken TV unless she was just looking for any excuse to go up to the famous football player’s room, have a good time, and possibly work a little blackmail on the side.
I read the deposition of a co-worker who said Ben’s accuser was bragging about being with him, etc., etc.
From most accounts the accuser is a flake and looking for money and attention, the woman’s deposition was pretty damning.
Ben appears to be 100% innocent here and should sue her to the heavens, it’s hard to get your good name back, ask Rush Limbaugh.
The woman’s law suit is not a result of what she is. It’s just a disagreement over price.
Rule #1 Get the quote up front.
Rule #2 Never have a liaison with anyone who has less to lose than you do.
Well, I hate to burst bubbles here, but Ben isnt a little angel as the local press seems to protray him to be. He isnt guilty in this case, but from everyone who has met him or has done buisness with him, he is a total jerk. He thinks because he is a star that he should eat and drink for free. He treats the waiters and waitress’es like trash. And puts the arm on bars for the priveldge of serving him.
You can always judge a person on how he treats those who cant give special treatment. Big Ben, like most sports stars think they are gods. Sadly there are people who would bow and scrape for them.
Steelers won.
