Sign a petition: Make Congress enroll in the Gov't Health Plan- if passed

Subject: HR 615

On Tuesday, the Senate health committee voted 12-11 in favor of a two-page amendment, courtesy of Republican Tom Coburn which would require all Members of Congress and their staff members to enroll in any new government-run health plan.

Congressman John Fleming has proposed an amendment that would require Congressmen and Senators to take the same health care plan that they would force on us. (Under proposed legislation they are exempt.)

Congressman Fleming is encouraging people to go to his Website and sign his petition. The process is very simple. I have done just that at:

http://fleming.house.gov/index.html . Fill out name address, etc...click "YES" and submit!!

Senator Coburn and Congressman Fleming are both physicians. Regardless of your political beliefs, it sure seems reasonable that Congress should have exactly the same medical coverage that they impose on the rest of us. Please urge as many people as you can to do the same!

So much for the "equal protection clause".

Equal protection only applies to dismantling traditional institutions. It does not apply to democrats, their causes or potential voters.

Make Congress enroll in the Gov't Health Plan- if passed

And then, leave them on it, after the rest of us overturn it for ourselves- if passed.

If I had $20 bucks for every petition I signed during the 110th Congress, I’d have next month’s rent in the bank.

Not a single petition that I’ve signed has resulted in stopping Congress from doing whatever they wanted.

Petitions? Phhhhht! This Congress needs something stronger than petitions, faxes, phone calls, or letters to get them to cease and desist at this point.

Even two million angry Americans arriving at the steps of the Capitol didn’t slow them down.

Better yet, have the Republicans in 2010 run on a platform to put all Congresscritters, past, present, future, on medicare, any healthcare package they pass, social security (instead of the obscene retirement package they now have), and an end to their exemptions on compliance with any law we have to live with.

And how, pray tell, are we going to get them to do this, if they aren't even paying attention to our calls, faxes, petitions, town halls, protest marches, polls, etc?

I think it's wishful thinking to believe that we can still effect change playing by the old, established rules. The game has changed, yet most Americans seem to be completely ignorant of that fact.

Taxed for life at highest rate at any time in their “service”, with no exemptions allowed.

I was going to mention that you can’t do the past thing, as that’s unconstitutional, but then don’t they usually end up adjusting the tax code after the year has already started?

Personally, I prefer one term and then a trip to the gallows, though a friend pointed out that I have the order backwards.

It doesn’t really matter about them having the same Plan. What matters is that they will continue to have their special medical care facilities and physicians on the premises of the Capitol. They call in for whatever specialists they want/need. They don’t wait in line like the rest of us. They have the best care on site. I don’t see why any politician deserves such. They are not indispensable.
