To save the country and the economy, we first have to save the schools. To do that, we first have to save reading.
TOPICS: Business/Economy; News/Current Events
KEYWORDS: illiteracy; phonics; socialism
I just searched "reading wars' and "reading" on this site. Nothing?! Trust me, this is a huge issue and merits a closer look. Problem is, the Reading Wars are confusing...until now. I just published an article titled NINE READING EXPERTS EXPLAIN THE SAD STATE OF READING. I asked nine of the best and smartest people for a quick summary. If you have kids in schools, definitely read this article. It's the fastest way to grasp what the Education Establishment has done to us.

Not public schools, they do not deserve to be saved

Public schools deliberately reduce literacy. Literate people are thoughtful people, less amenable to be herded by their shepherds.
You can use phonics to teach a ready child to read in 30 hours.
Or you can use look-say to produce a non-literate factory hand / cannon fodder subject in six years.
