While many became enraged by an op-ed column by local GOP leaders, Yomin Postelnik came to their defense.
Postelnik, a Republican candidate for Florida’s House District 91, wrote a column that was quickly circulated among blogs and online community forums in which he, a Jewish man, defended the actions of the Orangeburg and Bamberg Republican Party chairmen.
The column by Jim S. Ulmer Jr., Orangeburg County chairman, and Edwin O. Merwin Jr., Bamberg County chairman, praised U.S. Sen. Jim DeMint’s stand against congressional earmarks. In lauding DeMint’s frugality, the two men wrote:
“There is a saying that the Jews who are wealthy got that way not by watching dollars, but instead by taking care of the pennies and the dollars taking care of themselves. By not using earmarks to fund projects for South Carolina and instead using actual bills, DeMint is watching our nation’s pennies …”
Postelnik said his initial response after reading the column was pleasant, though many have voiced their opinion that the column was insensitive and racist.
“My first thought was they meant to be complimentary,” Postelnik said. “I don’t think the wording was highly sensitive at all.”

I’m posting this here because a)Ulmer and Merwin are good people who are being maligned by Democrats for political points and b) because we all need to speak out against Democrats accusing the GOP of racism when there is none.
Message to Democrats - Our ethnicities are not to be used as political fodder or as weapons to yield against innocent people whose opinions you disagree with. We know all too well that you fail miserably as a party when any discussion is centered on the issues. But the answer to that is to become sensible, not to shamelessly libel others as a way of gaining unearned political capital.
Need we begin to malign the Democrats by .. Idon’t know ... pointing out that they can do NOTHING... they need their NANNY GOVERNMENT to take care of them ..
although it is kinda fun to watch a LIBERAL Turn dead white when I slam Democrats for putting my ancestors on to Reservations...
Not out of being Offended... but by using it as a very Offensive weapon.. works fairly well..

That is what leftists do. They twist words, they lie they cheat they steal, they believe anything they do that forwards their agenda is a good thing.
All of the actual antiSemitism I see in the political arena emanates from the Left and the Democrat Party.
You can say that again. There are two Democrat state reps here who’ve done shocking things. But when a Republican makes an innocent, well intentioned statement that someone gets offended by after the Daily Kos spin it to a ridiculous level, it’s somehow national news.
G-d will help us all! We’ve just got to stay strong, defend what’s right and people eventually wake up.
