“It also aided the Marxist-Alinsky hippie street rabble to take over the formerly traditional, patriotic Democratic Party.”

I think that had already happened. I believe one of the congressional staffers working on watergate was one Hillary Rodam.

You're right. The Alinsky acolyte Hillary! even helped write the articles of impeachment, I believe. I just looked up a version of the (final?) articles of impeachment. Searching for the "crimes" of Nixon finds things like "he carpet bombed Cambodia," "destroyed the Constitution," tried to buy a minority interest in the Redskins.

It seems that Nixon "prevented, obstructed, and impeded the administration of justice."

(Which administration hasn't done that in one degree or another -- the only difference the press likely never asked about it.)

How did Nixon prevent, obstruct, and impede the administration of justice?

He lied to "lawfully authorized investigative officers and employees of the United States."

He withheld evidence and information from same.

He suborned perjury; i.e., he induced people to lie to same and "duly instituted judicial and congressional proceedings."

He interfered or endeavored to interfere with "Department of Justice of the United States, the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the office of Watergate Special Prosecution Force, and Congressional Committees"

He approved, condoned, and acquiesced to payments "for the purpose of obtaining the silence or influencing the testimony of witnesses, potential witnesses or individuals who participated in such unlawful entry and other illegal activities"

He endeavored "to misuse the Central Intelligence Agency, an agency of the United States;"

He gave information received from officers of the Department of Justice to help others avoid criminal liability;

He lied to the public claiming "that a thorough and complete investigation had been conducted with respect to allegations of misconduct on the part of personnel of the executive branch of the United States and personnel of the Committee for the Re-election of the President, and that there was no involvement of such personnel in such misconduct:"

He endeavored to "cause prospective defendants, and individuals duly tried and convicted, to expect favoured treatment and consideration in return for their silence or false testimony, or rewarding individuals for their silence or false testimony."

[End of Article I)

Whol' lot o' endeavorin' goin' on back then. Not much done did it.

Article II says he done "repeatedly engaged in conduct violating the constitutional rights of citizens, impairing the due and proper administration of justice and the conduct of lawful inquiries, or contravening the laws governing agencies of the executive branch and the purposed of these agencies. . . ."

Article III says he refused to produce papers and things demanded by Congress instead "substituting his judgment as to what materials were necessary for the inquiry, interposed the powers of the Presidency against the the lawful subpoenas of the House of Representatives, thereby assuming to himself functions and judgments necessary to the exercise of the sole power of impeachment vested by the Constitution in the House of Representatives."

Oh.. and he's an a-hole. . . .

The remaining Articles were rejected by the House Judiciary Committee. Article 4 contained the "he's a crook!" charges, BTW.

Also this: Armand Hammer, if I remember his biography correctly, was charged and convicted of giving cash to Nixon that was used to pass on the "plumbers."

Hammer was a long-time Soviet and communism supported who had first attracted the attention of federal LEO (including Hoover) way back in the 1920s. The conviction for giving money to Nixon was the only time that he was convicted of anything!
