Only a economic disaster Schiff style will wake up the public from their obsession with Santa Claus. I am convinced that the problem is not only Washington DC but it is voters too, both parties. Term limits would help with Washington elected congress too,

In my opinion, term limits is an artificial and incorrect solution to the problem.

Ultimately, the blame lies with those who do not vote and those too stupid or too lazy to be informed that do vote.

Term limits lack a certain small 'l' libertarian approach to government.

I really don't know what the answer is besides the hard and dirty work of those who are informed spending their time waking others up.

I do agree with you on the economic disaster comment.

Trying to take the consequences out of life is part of why we find ourselves in the mess we are in.

I agree with you on term limits. That is not the solution. The blame lies directly on the voters, period! We are the ones that put these thieving criminals in office. We are the ones that didn’t care while times were good (artificially) and didnt’ care enough to pay attention to what they were doing and how they were doing it. Now that we have that economic disaster we are getting vocal it seems and starting to pay attention to the wolves we elected to watch the chicken coop. The solution is simple: The states need to band together and tell the Feds to get F’d. Plain and simple. Tax money should flow to state coffers first to take care of community needs, and then and only then, the Feds can come beg for our hard earned cash. We need to ensure we get active and aware to only elect those that thoroughly understand the US Constitution and the powers granted to the Federal government. Only then will the money be release to the Feds for Constitutionally legal endeavors i.e., National Defense.

This has been my belief too.

Term limits are a BandAid for a voter problem when the elected leader is bad.....

.....and a poison to the country when the leader is good.

Voters should be qualified by education, experience, and a stake in the outcome. Those who do not qualify should not be allowed to cast their vote for the best looking candidate or one who will give them the most loot.

They would probably find a way around it, but the only solution I can think of is to devise a formula that computed how much spending a state’s senators vote for, and base the tax rates for the state on that. If your state votes in big-spenders, then your state’s citizens would pay a greater amount. If your state’s senators are more frugal than average, then your taxes would go down.

Well, it sounds good anyway. :-)
