That’s the flaw. The opposition has to own all the tar the Alinsky method slings.
If the opposition does not own it, or buy it, it fails.
The attempts to tar all Obama protests as racist was one of them. The opposition refused the label and the charge failed.
For Obama, “the enemy” is us, the American people? I seriously doubt it. Obama seems to see we, the people, as beneath him. Not enemies, but obstacles. I’m reading Rules for Radicals right now, and I see Alinsky all over the 0bama administration, right down to the world apology tour. Alinsky has some good ideas, but he is dead wrong as often as he is right. The ironic thing is that the “radicals” have become everything that Alinsky was organizing against, and the new “radical” have nots and have a little and want mores are conservatives who want to stop 0bama and his thugs.

I'm really tired of hearing it from the right. Nothing is guaranteed, but the news from the left is so biased, they are overplaying their hand badly when they simultaneously wreck or undermine the domestic economy, the value of the dollar and our allies. The 2010 backlash potential is huge.

As I have written here and at other sites many, many times.
Alinsky is simply a strategy. He wrote his strategy with the explicit reason for establishing a leftist government, but he wouldn’t be the first guy in history watching his plans get used by his opposition more successfully.
I’ve already taken to shaming my liberal friends into admitting that their own attitudes about Christians, men, Republicans, conservatives, and the United States isn’t tolerant. I make sure that diversity means diverse ideas and opinions.
My best moment using the opposition’s values against them: I was dealing with a rather shrill Native guy telling me about the need for universal health care. I quietly asked him how he could trust the government’s promises about health care when that same government has lied in treaty after treaty with Native people for centuries. After he was literally stopped in his tracks, I then asked, “Isn’t liberty for Native people better than depending on government?” Hee hee hee.
A revolution happens one person at a time. And despite what Mao said, a potent idea will always be more powerful than the barrel of a gun.
