Historically, concealed carry equated to evil intent. Honest men carried guns openly. Then again, good defensive guns were large and hard to conceal anyway; walking around with a shotgun or a 7”-barreled pistol was no big deal.

Funny thing is, the whole leftist whining about the need for carry permits is “we need to know who is packing”; OK, so let me carry openly and you’ll know.

Actually, I think that might have changed from open carry was the norm to maybe the 20’s, concealed carry - or at least kept in autos - ready to rob banks. Open carry was the norm in the Western days... It became a problem when the gangsters took over...my guess...heh...

Actually Cramer has written a book on the subject. The short story is that when dueling was outlawed, concealed carry gave an opponent an advantage.
