Baucus Supports Reid's Move
October 26, 2009
In announcing a health care bill with a public option, it sounds like Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-NV) has already lined up the support of Finance Committee Chairman Max Baucus (D-MT).
Said Baucus: "It is time to make our system work better for patients and providers, for small business owners and for our economy. It is time for health care reform. For more than a year, we've been working to meet the goals of reducing the growth of health care costs, improving quality and efficiency and expanding coverage. There are a tremendous number of complicated issues that go into reform and the public option is certainly one of them. I included a public option in the health reform blueprint I released nearly one year ago, and continue to support any provision, including a public option, that will ensure choice and competition and get the 60 votes needed to pass the Senate. Success should be our threshold and I am going to fight hard for the 60 votes we need to meet that goal this year."
The bill that emerged from the Senate Finance Committee did not have a public option provision.
Some funky RAT chess game where the other player is excluded.
Could the CIA do a better job? Don't think so...
Have they set a date for a vote yet?
The SUPER SECRET vote? Not sure.
Gee Olympia, what do ya think?
On behalf of all Montanans...
We apologize!
Bob Beckel was just on Sean’s panel. He said she will vote for it - that it is a done deal.
The source seems to be a left-wing blog judging by the comments there.
I doubt that even a RINO like Snowe is going to vote for this OPT-OUT public option, in fact she just said today that there is no way she is going to vote for it. I think the democrats do not have 60 vote cloture for this OPT-OUT socialized medicine bill. The OPT-OUT option is a disaster, first they want all the state to be in socialized medicine and then they will make it impossible for any state to opt-out form the socialized medicine even if 100% of the state population wants and opt-out.
Vote for WHAT? Even Dingy Harry hasn't read the bill - and he AUTHORED it!
Go to Range Magazine, Fall 2009 issue and look at the article on Page 72. “Plum Crazy”.
This is the same Baucus who screwed his home state of Montana with a game of musical chairs/land swaps between enviros-timber companies- and state holdings.
Bonds were taken out to be paid for by the Montana residents for land which was severely overvalued-—about 8 X the real value.
Montana will be paying for years for his duplicity in that deal.
Baucus isn’t to be trusted. Period.
Why should we accept something from a phony Congress and a POTUS who we are not sure his name is really Obama?
Hmmm...who to trust? Beckel or Snowe.
Lindsey Graham and John Cornyn were both on Greta's show tonight, both very unhappy with the latest Democrat maneuver. Listening to Cornyn was reassuring--there may be a number of moderate Democrats who won't back such a shell game.
Is there any precedent in our history for trying to get such a major piece of legislation enacted with so little public scrutiny? The whole process is designed to keep the public in the dark. The only analogy I can think of is the banking bill passed a few days after FDR took office in 1933 (passed 40 minutes after the bill was sent over from the White House to Congress, I think) but that wasn't nearly as far-reaching as the health care makeover would be.
“”It is time to make our system work better for patients and providers, for small business owners and for our economy. It is time for health care reform. “
Free translation: “It’s time to increase by 500% our control of all American people (except, of course, we who are superior to them)”.
