His womanizing was well known in Marietta GA, and his mistreatment of the first wife cited often.

Hmmm...thought southern ladies had higher standards.

This guy doesn't know when to give up the ship.

Too bad he doesn't realize that the days of supporting liberals running on the GOP ticket are over.

THERE IS ALWAYS A CONSERVATIVE CANDIDATE.

No point in electing liberals that will side with the socialists when they get to DC.

Thats just plain dumb.

That's right. Not to mention all the cash the party is vanning into upstate in support of a lefty. The pubs are beginning to look like a democrat farm team. No matter who wins the party will look rediculious . Lets hope Big Steele wakes up and gets his man on .

Nostalgia for the good ‘ol days of which people associated with Newt. It’s the same with Reagan, only Reagan actually deserves that nostalgic glow when he’s spoken of. Nostalgia’s powerful though. Has a way of making people forget or whitewash what really went down. Only at times like these do people suddenly remember the side of Newt that led to him being run out of office.

That and I suppose he has a touch of Clinton or Obama about him. Some people are fooled by glib speakers. Maybe we all are at some point.

I see it as a blessing. Been speaking against the guy for the last few years but people persisted in believing in him. That appears to be ending.

Newt is voting on political affiliation (R) and not integrity (right and wrong).

It was five people in a closed room, all part of Scuzzlebutt’s own little red hat lady circle that nominated her, not the district. Also, I don’t know why Newt keeps repeating the BS, but Hoffman does live in that district from what I’ve seen (I recall a thread when Newt first charged that some FReepers looked him up and he was right on some bayside community within the district).

Newt, she may have turned you into one, but you didn’t get better.

Even saying how people from Alaska, Texas, etc shouldn’t get involved in an outside race.

...so then why is he involved?

yeah, i have been one of those but this episode was quite informative. I still want Newt on our team, but not leadership. He gave a good history lesson. He was talking about GW crossing the Delaware. Does he really think his support for Dede shows any courage?

Hoffman doesn’t live in the district or at least have property there? I don’t support Newt even a little but trying to clear up what he said.

People from outside the district will stay out of the race if she promises to never vote for a tax increase that affects anybody outside her district.

She's a politician, promises mean jack squat. History is all that counts- evidence. And hers shows she isn't really a fiscal conservative either. Just because she makes a promise now doesn't change how she has acted before. From what I can find, the only thing she is Conservative on is 2nd amendment issues.

Thanks for your info as I was asking the question about where he lived.

How could they nominate her without all the people voting that vote to put someone on the ballot? Looks like they went against the rules of the Party to nominate the liberal. NY GOP is so screwed up.

It is too bad Newt turned into a country club Republican since he left office. He is one of the more articulate Republicans. It is a shame he is using he voice to advance big government causes.

Newt makes good points in that the district should pick their candidate and not outsiders. But this isn’t a case of outsiders forcing someone on the district. Hoffman has significant support in the district. Let the district voters decide. Now there will be areas where there will be RINO politicians because of a simple fact ... there are lots of RINO voters. It would be a wonderful world to get rid of them but until there are more conservative voters than RINO voters in those districts it won’t happen. This NY district may be one of them where a conservative gets elected. I hope so. But if not - so be it - its their district.

Newt can be very persuasive. Someone must’ve offered him a nice golden parachute to stick to the party line.

All in a matter of 30 seconds, Newt could have done this.

I don’t know which one he is, but at least two of those addresses, by comparing a NY23 map, are in that district.
