Thanks for your info as I was asking the question about where he lived.

Before I could type a response I see several other posters have clarified the residency question for you. The bottom line is that for the local folks in NY23 it's simply not an issue.

PKM, here's another bit of info I thought you'd appreciate since I know how involved you have been in the nuts and bolts, door to door, ground game aspects of Oklahoma politics. The actual story of how Scozzafava was chosen is a bit more complicated, and a good deal more troubling than the simplified acounts we've seen in most of these threads.

The following link, courtesy of StatenIsland in another thread, is an account of how there were actually eight GOP prospects vying for the spot, ALL of whom were acceptably conservative and would have been endorsed by the NY Conservative party, thus guaranteeing a GOP win, except that the GOP committee chairwoman manipulated the voting process to put in her friend, Scozzafava. In fact, Scozzafava was the one the Conservative Party folks specifically told the GOP committee they would not endorse. The ugly truth is that not only were all eight conservative GOP candidates betrayed by a corrupt committee chairwoman, she also betrayed her own committee members.

Here's the link from the TCOT Report:

Sounds very crooked to me and looks like not all of the people eligible to make the decision were even there. This really smells.

Looks like they went against every rule in the book to name her above the others. Why name such a liberal when you know the Conservative Party won’t support them for good reason? That should have disqualified her right off the bat. People involved should be removed by the State GOP Chair for cause to send a message you follow the rules or face the consequences.

People in the Congressional district need to file formal complaints with the State GOP about how this was handled.

She may be one of the worst candidates ever. Thanks for the info.

I just read that report. Talk about crooked and a set-up. That woman who went against her own County most likely will not be reelected. In fact, if I lived there, I would start a petition to have her removed as County Chair and make sure she had an opponent in the House race.
