Mr. Peel is diabetic, and needed 5 injections of insulin a day. We've radically changed our diets and now he's down to 1 injection a day. The last time he was tested for his AIC, I requested a Vitamin D test at the same time. His Vit D level was extremely low, so the Dr prescribed 50,000 units of Vit D once a week for 12 weeks. We're into week 3. His blood sugar numbers in the mornings are now in the high 80s, so we've decreased the last injection of insulin from 30 units to 25.

Vitamin D will turn out to be the greatest nutritional discoveries in the last hundred years or so.
The next most important will be Magnesium.
Playing outside and in the sun, drinking creek water.
Go figure...

Is he taking any Vit D on the other days of the week? This is very interesting info for me as I have always had trouble with am BGs, no matter what regimen I’m on.
I don’t see my endo until January. Are there any problems with taking this much D without being followed by a doctor? And why once a week instead of every day (even if at lower amounts)? Inquiring minds want to know!

That is very interesting. I hope the doctor continues to monitor his vitamin D level, in case his declines as my daughter’s did. It makes you wonder if some people are less able to store D than others. I keep pestering my daughter to go out in the sun more and to take extra D.
I hope your husband continues to do well.
