Abortion foe urges 'Burn in Hell' protest

WASHINGTON (AP) - Anti-abortion activist Randall Terry is calling on people to burn effigies of House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid this Halloween, as part of a "Burn in Hell" video contest to protest the health care legislation in Congress.

Terry, founder of Operation Rescue, said Tuesday that the contest serves as a political and spiritual statement that "gives people a chance to peacefully vent their rage."

"If Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid force us to pay for child killing and they die unrepentant, they will burn in hell for this," Terry said in a telephone interview.

But House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer, D-Md., called the contest "unfortunate."

"I don't think appealing to people's anger and in effect inciting them to acts which either display or in any way project violent acts is consistent with rational discussion of very critical issues," Hoyer told reporters

Prolife activism is best and most effective when it channels peace and commitment to protection of all life.

Randall Terry was last seen on a “kill granny/kill babies” tour, opposing health care reform, dressed as a doctor stabbing plastic baby dolls.

Randall Terry is genuine even if his ways are ... well ... obscure. You have to admit they grab attention. You can get to know Randall Terry better by reading his small pamphlet "A Humble Plea."

And Fr. Euteneuer has recently said "We are reminded that even supposed political victories are temporary, and that the solution to these problems is not political, even if we have to keep up the political fight and our activist efforts," said Father Euteneuer. So we are in no way winning the war on abortion ... Fr. Euteneuer states that plainly ... Randall Terry is attempting to do the same thing in his own way. He puts his life on the line -- literally -- every day (for the unborn and their unaware mothers). God be with him.
