Emphasizing that the president's children did not receive any special treatment, Catherine McCormick-Lelyveld wrote: "Malia and Sasha were both vaccinated for H1N1 last week, after the vaccine became available to Washington, DC schoolchildren.
President and Mrs. Obama have not yet been vaccinated for H1N1, and they will wait until the needs of the priority groups identified by the CDC – including young people under the age of 24, pregnant women, and people with underlying conditions – have been met.
The girls' H1N1 vaccine was administered by a White House physician, who applied for and received the vaccine from the DC Department of Health using the same process as every other vaccination site in the District."
Older people generally have some immunity from prior exposure.

The government had hoped that Germans would rush to health clinics to receive vaccinations against the rapidly spreading disease, but the rising anger over the different doses may now cause many people to shy away.
Amid growing fears over a possible global flu pandemic, the German government prepared for its mass vaccination campaign earlier this year by ordering 50 million doses of the Pandemrix vaccine, which would be enough for a double dose for 25 million people, around a third of the population.
The vaccine, manufactured by GlaxoSmithKline, contains an immune-enhancing chemical compound, known as an adjuvant, whose side effects are not yet entirely known. Then, after a report was leaked to the German media last week, the Interior Ministry confirmed that it had ordered a different vaccine, Celvapan, for government officials and the military.
Celvapan, which is made by the U.S. pharmaceutical giant Baxter, does not contain an adjuvant and is believed to have fewer side effects than Pandemrix.

ALL THE MORE REASON that anyone who needs to get this shot for their children or themselves MUST ASK FIRST what it contains and exercise due diligence and learn about the manufacturer’s forumulation.
Did they go where all the other children had to go? LOL

I just read some stats that said the highest death rate was in the over 64 group.
If so, that’s new.
Fairly recent studies showed over 64 relatively unscathed and the under-30 population getting the sickest.

??? Someone said that Gibbs said yesterday that they had not yet been vaccinated. Do you think someone is lying?
Here in Ohio, we just got hit with H1N1. Out of the 300 kids in my children’s school, 50 were out today. My 11 year old had it this weekend my 9 year old just got it. Our vaccines , however, will be arriving in mid November. Just another example of government efficiency.
F.Y.I. I was expecting it to be alot worse than the regular flu. It wasn’t. Basically it was the same, exept it seemed to hit the respiratory system harder (alot of congestion and coughing) and the fever (about 100-102) lasted a little longer (about 3 days).
These kids have not been vaccinated.
You don’t say they were vaccinated last week and then have Robert Gibbs, your press secretary saying:
“White House Press Secretary Robert Gibbs says the vaccine is not available to them based on their risk.”

How about his biggest cheerleader CNN? In an interview with Obama, John King asks about family plans and safety, saying: “As a parent, with two daughters in school, How are you dealing with this and does the Obama family plan include a vaccination for you?”
Obama responds saying essentially the kids and Obama are pretty far down the line, in terms of qualifying for receiving the vaccine.

In general, seniors are not on the list recommended for the shot as this virus seems to be hitting the young. I don't think I've seen anyone address whether seniors with chronic conditions ought to get the vaccine.
Are you certain they were talking about H1N1? That flies in the face of everything I have seen so far, but is very common for seasonal flu.
On October 8, the vaccine WAS only available to children with chronic health issues. They were vaccinated FIRST. NOW it is available to school-children in general.

Oh no they won’t. They won’t have anyplace or anywhere near the staff they have at the White House. Their life will never be the same because they will always live in fear. That’s why Colin Powell’s wife never wanted him to run. She was smart. At least they have a real life now.
