What an idiot this “NEA” person is. Everyone KNOWS that NO WRITER in the history of man is equal to the Obamassiah! This NEA heretic is implying that Caesar was equal to the Obamassiah, and that’s simply not possible!

He needs to go back to the re-education camp...

I guess he missed St Thomas Aquinas. Churchill anyone? Who was that Italian? Oh yeah, Machiavelli.

Great writers, but Aquinas is more methodical than powerful. Machiavelli is pretty dry, too. I haven't read Churchill.

I suspect that the runner up since Caesar, for the NEA is Profiles in Courage

... most powerful writer ...

He doesn't worry about being strong, smell isn't everything.
He's so bright, his mother calls him "son."
Just because his head comes to a point doesn't mean he's sharp.

You mean the 15 holes in one or the writing of many symphonies or the winning elections with 132% of the vote or...

I have yet to be impressed by anything Obama has said or has written. I hear all these ‘great’ speeches, and at the end of it always wonder what the heck he just said. Nothing inspiring, just a bunch of rhetoric and handouts. Clinton was a much better speech giver and neither come close to Reagan.

Ghostwriter Bill Ayers, and whoever it is that writes all those teleprompter scripts — must be pleased with that encomium.

Then again, the only words from Caesar I remember with certainty are “Et tu Brute?”

I didn’t realize that Ceasar was known for his writing.

We had to translate Caesar's Gallic Wars in Latin class. He was a fair writer but he's remembered more for being the title role in Shakespeare's "Julius Caesar".

Gaul is divided in three parts ...

Omnis Gallia divisa est in partes tres.

Omnis Gallia divisa est in partes tres.

Fairly pedestrian. Doesn't compare with "Arma virumque cano."

And, I bet He is also the greatest orator since Cicero.

That was Kennedy.

And yet Obama’s “writings” will be forgotten in a decade while those other writers will grace the library shelves for centuries to come.

I don't appreciate the comparison to my 23 cousin 29 times removed. Who is this now upstart. He isn't even published.

Does she mean Cicero?

I’ll lay odds she’s never read any classics.

It depends on how far he takes us. It may be brought up just as another "powerful" book that moved people was.

I understand there is still interest in Mein Kampf by A. Hitler.
