The party isn’t going to back Hoffman because he has a (C) behind his name, like Scozzo has an (R) after hers. Newt has put party over principle in this race. Hoffman will caucus and vote with the House GOP members, because he’s already got support from Conservatives within the GOP.
Scozzofava is Arlen Specter in drag. No doubt if she won, she’ll defect to the Democrats, which is why Daily Kos feels comfortable in endorsing her over Owens, who will lose this race either way anyway.
Or the same rationale to vote for The Jerkinator. "He's popular", "He's likable", "Everyone knows who he is", "He's got an 'R' behind his name".

I am an old fan of Newt, but the Georgian should stay out of NY Politics. He doesn’t understand the state.
