Flaherty: Gingrich Must Cut Ties with Sharpton
Newsmax ^ | Tuesday, October 27, 2009

National Legal and Policy Center President Peter Flaherty tells Newsmax that his group is calling on corporations to end their support of Al Sharpton's organization in response to his role in the Rush Limbaugh-National Football League controversy.

Flaherty is also urging former House Speaker Newt Gingrich to cut his ties with Sharpton, a Baptist minister and civil rights activist whom Flaherty calls a "despicable figure" responsible for racial "antagonism" in the U.S.

After Limbaugh announced on Oct. 6 that he was part of a group seeking to buy the St. Louis Rams football team, Sharpton said the radio talk show host's track record on race should exclude him from ownership. He sent a letter to NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell claiming Limbaugh was divisive and "anti-NFL" in some of his comments.

On Oct. 14, Limbaugh was dropped from the group seeking to buy the Rams.

Newsmax.TV's Kathleen Walter asked Flaherty about the campaign to cut corporate funding of Sharpton's National Action Network.

"Most people are familiar with Al Sharpton, but what's less known is that his organization, the National Action Network, is bankrolled by corporate America," said Flaherty, whose organization promotes ethics in public life.

"Those include companies that we patronize all the time, like Anheuser-Busch, Wal-Mart, Colgate-Palmolive.

"We are asking these companies to end their support for Sharpton. We feel that it's inappropriate for these businesses to be supporting someone who is engaged in the promotion of hate crimes over the years and who has sought to increase antagonism between whites and blacks in this country."

“Sharpton, a Baptist minister”

No. He was ordained by a pentecostal church.

I doubt Newt has anything at all to say about his wife’s family business.

Al Sharpton is a pro-abortion, race pimp. Nothing more, nothing less.

Forget it. Newt would rather get it with the elitist clans left and right than get it with the grass roots right America.

He needs to give up any notion for running in 2012. He blew it in New York 23.

"He blew it in New York 23."

No--Newt blew it when he was Speaker and several times avowed his admiration and awe of Bill Clinton; he blew it, when after voters giving him the benefit of the doubt on leaving his older, sick wife for the one he brought to DC, he then left the 2d wife for an aide.

Newt is short on commitment and is easily dissuaded from the path of integrity.

Wow. Newt is a TOTAL POS! Pelosi, Sharpton and Dede Scaziofavava in NY.

Maybe Newt can mention his 5th(?) wife Callista the next time he is on Tv or the radio. The think she was his babysitter for his kids with his 3rd or 4th wife. I lose track.

Gingrich has “ties” to Sharpton...

No problem; let him keep them.

I want him to cut his ties as a Republican, which he clearly isn't with his support and endorsement of Dede whoever, the "RINO" candidate in New York. As someone described her yesterday, she's a DIABLO "Democrat In All But Label Only."

Both Newt an I agree,
Scozzafava’s election could be the start of a “new
Republican Revolution” that mirrors the “1994 Republican
Revolution.”

Since we cant thrust you headfirst into Global Communism
we have decided to drive you there real slow.
Were gonna stop along the way to see all the sights!
