Coakley Leads All Comers in Mass. Senate Special Election
Congressional Quarterly ^ | October 27, 2009 | Emily Cadei

Either Coakley or Capuano would win comfortably in the Jan. 19 general election against state Sen. Scott Brown, the GOP’s lone serious contender, in the Democratic-leaning state. Coakley performs best in the hypothetical match-up, leading Brown 58 percent to 32 percent among likely voters. Capuano tops Brown 49 percent to 33 percent.

Adding to Republicans’ challenges in the race, Brown remains one of the least-known candidates in the field. Fifty-two percent of registered voters say they haven’t heard of him, and another 26 percent had no opinion, second only to Khazei, who is unknown to 56 percent of voters while 28 percent have not formed an opinion of him.

I keep hoping that Brown’s support will climb as his name I.D. climbs. Martha Coakley is a moonbat, and even Massachusetts might not want more of that in the present political climate.

What's surprising about any of this?

Nothing. I do hope the numbers change as Scott Brown gets better known.

You are being too optimistic about your prediction. If the total number of registered Republican voters in Massachusetts really began to climb above the present 13%, then this would indicate that the Massachusetts voter's, in general, really are disappointed in the ongoing political status quo, but that's not happening at all. Brown has no shot of really winning this race, and Brown is solely doing this in order to help himself get some name recognition out into the general public. Any possible future run, by Brown, for any Massachusetts political office will be boosted by his present run for the U.S. Senate.

The moonbats are a majority of voters in Massachusetts, and this has been the case for more than sixty years. Most truly conservative voters in Massachusetts really don't stay in Massachusetts for long.

I believe what remained of the Massachusetts Repubs moved to southern NH. Not that it mattered much.....

Trust me ... it genuinely sucks being a Massachusetts voter. Voting with one hand is difficult, since you have to hold your nose with the other.

I think Pagliuca has a shot on the Dem side, rather than “Can’t Win a Case” Coakley. Talk about out of touch ... Capuano is running TV ads touting his close relationship with Bawney Fwank. (Not that I would vote for a Dem at gunpoint.)

Brown? Who dat? Is there really a Republican in this race?

I just pray that Brown is conserving his cash for a late blitz. Then maybe somebody will learn his name.

I think this is the state senator whose daughter, Ayla, was on American Idol. The family got some screen time - his wife is a local tv anchor.

Well, the differences between SB and the Rats are as clear as night and day. But this is Massholechusetts, and I expect the libtards to vote accordingly.

All the Rats suck, and really badly at that. From that perspective, I hope the Rat candidate is anyone but Capuano; that keeps the Kennedys out of his US House seat.

From Howie Carr’s article today (10/30/2009):

“Scott Brown: The Republican candidate for AG next year will be wearing a clever disguise first popularized by Joe Malone in 1988 - sacrificial nice-guy Senate candidate.”
