The bottom line is Boeing cannot let itself be held hostage for deliveries or costs by the IAM. So they decided that by diversifying their production facilities they will call the shots, not these union folks. The IAM really gave them little choice after last fall, plus it was clear that Christine was not going to talking any sense to the union.
The IAM has no one to blame but themselves. If they are as good as they like to think they are, then future jet production will be directed toward Puget Sound. It is more likely that the IAM will throw a fit, much like an 8 year old, and will lose out on the plastic 737 lines.
Too bad for us in Washington.
