GOP nominee endorses Democrat after stepping aside under pressure from right By Tony Romm - 11/01/09 03:28 PM ET The Republican in a New York House race that has become a symbol of the divisions within the GOP endorsed her former Democratic rival Sunday, a sharp snub to the third-party conservative who forced her out of the race.

Dede Scozzafava, who'd been chosen by local Republican leaders to try to hold the seat for the GOP, instead threw her support behind Democrat Bill Owens -- only a day after she unexpectedly backed out of the tough, three-way special election.

Talk about a "Teachable Moment"!

Call it our version of ..."Card Check" (nyuk, nyuk, nyuk).

Waiting for Mister Gingrich to TRY to weasel-out of this, but it will not work.

So be it.

This may be a very good step towards regaining control of the GOP as it shows most of the current crop for the political power whores they are.

Who forced her out? Bad polls and no money are the reasons, not the "right." She could have stayed in, but she didn't want to finish in third place.

We conservatives tried to tell Steele and the party leadership that Scozzafava was a fake, but they didn’t LISTEN! See?

Lord knows I have no proof, but I suspect that the GOP requested that she throw her support to the Democrat. The Republican establishment does NOT want a third party win. They do NOT want Sarah Palin's chosen candidate to win the election. The GOP is at war with the Conservative base.

Not news, just more apparent than ever.

This proves that the RNC needs an antiseptic cleaning.

Time to get the McCain tools out of there.

Nice job by Newt,Steele,Boehner...et al.

DeDe should have a "D""D" next to her name.
Switch parties, lady, but see how much respect they give you.

Gingrich was on FOXNEWS this morning, and he couldn’t conceal his bitterness. Believe me, this is a HUGE defeat for him.

So, so true and utterly crystal clear. The minute Palin went public with her support for Hoffman, this race became about nothing but Palin v. Establishment GOP.

If Boehner, Pete Sessions, Gingrich, et al thought they could get away with it, I bet they would endorse the donk, too.

If the National Republican Congressional Committee had not endorsed, funded and staffed Scozzafava's campaign, she would have had to drop out many weeks ago. They have done *more* damage than Gingrich and Steele, while hiding behind the faceless NRCC organization.

As of this morning, Boehner, the head of the NRCC, was still pushing "moderates" and the big tent: http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/2375879/posts.

With that, I give you:

Photobucket

The National Republican Congressional Committee

Rep. John Carter, TX (in pic, far left); DC office: (202) 225-3864

Rep. Eric Cantor, VA (third from left); DC office: (202) 225-2815

Rep. John Boehner, OH (fourth from left); DC office: (202) 225-6205

Rep. Cathy McMorris Rodgers, WA; DC office: (202) 225-2006

Rep. Pete Sessions, TX (sixth from left); DC office: (202) 225-2231

Rep. Thaddeus McCotter, MI (not pictured); DC office: (202) 225.8171

Note: Rep. Mike Pence, second from left, strenuously objected to Scozzafava, and refused to endorse her or send her money. In retaliation, pro-leftist house members like those above anonymously told reporters that Pence isn't supporting Dede because he's anti-woman.

P.S. That’s why I believe there will be foul play from both Dems and Repubs in NY23 in order to ensure a Hoffman loss.

The one-party system in action.

Precisely. Like the false choice between Mensheviks and Bolsheviks. Rival factions, but both communists.

The GOP will either disappear into oblivion, or find a ‘use’ as a false front subsidiary of the Social Democrats.

“The GOP is at war with the Conservative base.”

And by declaring war on us, they are making a HUGE mistake! We won’t be pawns of the RNC; we are fighting back and we’re gonna win!

The Party of Reagan is being resurrected, led by SARAH PALIN!!!!!!!!!

I wonder if Newt & Steele “encouraged” DeDe to endorse Owens as payback ?

The GOP is not in the business of opposing the Democrats. The GOP is in the business of opposing Conservatives.

And securing our efforts and donations to defeat ourselves.

Outed. Exposed. Revealed.

GOP = Game Over, Pukes.

Ol’Newt and Steele really know how to pick’em!

Steele DID NOT pick this woman. The NY Republican Committee did this.

It is Steele's job to support Republican candidates,. He did his job.

Newt showed us all what a fool he really is.

She’s probably a Democrat mole. I suspect there are a lot of them in the Republican Party.

Wasn't there a certain high ranking Republican who voted for Obama? I can't remember his name right now: but it was certainly a black mark against him, generally speaking. (Should I have used a comma instead of a colon?)
