Republican Dede Scozzafava announced Saturday that she is suspending her campaign in the Nov. 3 House special election in New York, a dramatic development that increases the GOP's chances of winning the contentious and closely-watched race.
"In recent days, polls have indicated that my chances of winning this election are not as strong as we would like them to be. The reality that I've come to accept is that in today's political arena, you must be able to back up your message with moneyand as I've been outspent on both sides, I've been unable to effectively address many of the charges that have been made about my record, she said in a statement.
It is increasingly clear that pressure is mounting on many of my supporters to shift their support. Consequently, I hereby release those individuals who have endorsed and supported my campaign to transfer their support as they see fit to do so. I am and have always been a proud Republican.
Her decision came as a Siena Research Institute poll released Saturday confirmed that her support has all but collapsed over the last month. In her statement, Scozzafava acknowledged that while her name will continue to appear on the ballot, victory is unlikely.
The Siena poll conducted Oct. 27-29, in line with other recent polls, showed Democrat Bill Owens holding a razor-thin lead over Conservative Party nominee Doug Hoffman, 36 percent to 35 percent.
Scozzafava trailed far behind at 20 percent, with 9 percent of voters still undecided.
The National Republican Congressional Committee will now be throwing its support to Hoffman, after endorsing Scozzafava and deriding the Conservative Party candidate in statements throughout much of the race.(continued)

I wish you guys would quit referring to her as a RINO, let’s face it she is a Democrat.
Some GOP leaders must have gone with Scuzzy. It would be hard to believe that she went ‘rat all by herself.
Steyn has her as a DIABLO. You can look it up.
So what happens to her war chest? All the RCC contributions to her election???
Wonder if DeDe’s campaign debts will be paid off after her endorsement? It’s the Democrat way. Just ask Hillary.
Let’s wait for the results on Tuesday, but, it sure sounds like Republicans can have success by returning to core principles of conservatism. Rather than trying to be RINO or Democrat-lite politicians, Republicans should be firm in urging voters to support conservative candidates and values. And most importantly, when such Republicans are elected to office, they need to hold to these core principles in their governing.
Where can I join this “C” party?
Why bother taking back the GOP? The Conservative Party of New York State now has a template that can be replicated in all 50 states. A network of similar, state-level parties could end up being far more powerful for transforming America than the national structure of the Republican Party. I am very excited about this.
YEah, you wer outspent, that’s why you weren’t going to win. Nobody wants to hear your message. It’s a loser message. It’s the message McCain did so well running with.
Steyn is more accurate. Democrat In All But Label Only
Agreed. For years,I’ve been filling out those Republican polls with the return postage. Every time I write in BIG letters, GROW A PAIR AND GET SOME CONSERVATIVE VALUES !! Not a dime until that happens !! A week later, I get another poll. Samo samo...
ScuzzyFuzzy is just another domino in the failure of the pubbies.
The Republicans have one chance left: They can nominate Palin in 2012 and win easily, or they can nominate a RINO and come in third after Palin (as a third-party candidate) and the Kenyan Usurper — in that order.
oh! Poor Baby!
As I said in another thread:
You miss the point. This is not about the CPNYS. This is about the potential for building a network of state-level Conservative Parties that can re-take America from the Socialists and their traitorous fellow travelers — the RINOs.
Sure, the CPNYS is not perfect. But its 2009 platform represents a template that can and should be replicated in all 50 states.
