Spend some time in an impound lot or a wrecking yard, and then tell me how safe these tinfoil balls are.
I’m a fan of Ford products, but realism is a virtue in this area.
Having been to a salvage yard just recently (I had to get a rebuilt ABS control unit for a 1990 Acura Legend sedan, and the salvage yard shop had a good condition one), I can say that older trucks and SUV’s aren’t much safer, either. I saw several examples of SUV’s and pickup trucks dating from the middle 1990’s that looked like crumpled food cans from being inolved in 45-55 mph accidents (it wasn’t until the last 7-8 years that truck and SUV manufacturers took passenger safety seriously, borrowing a lot of safety technology already being used by conventional autos).
