President Obama’s chief economist Christina Romer admitted
several weeks ago, “It’s very hard to say exactly [how many
jobs have been saved or created] because you don’t know what
the baseline is, right, because you don’t know what the
economy would have done without [the economic stimulus
program].”
According to the Colorado Springs Gazette, 269 of the 600-odd jobs "created or saved" in El Paso County were with the Head Start program, which hired, in fact, 3 people.
But you see, they have 266 little rugrats in their program which allows their parents to work, therefore, Voila, 266 jobs were saved, plus the 3 actual minimum-wage new hires, equals 269.
