I don’t know why, but watching our guys like that pi**ed me off more than the news coverage. God bless our military. How many more of these “episodes” are we going to have to tolerate?

Reminiscent of Virginia Tech shootings.

Exactly...and prepare for him to be made the “victim” -—this CRAP has got to be called out for what it is, and stopped!

I don’t get it...why would a police SWAT team be there? It’s an Army base for cripes sakes.

Most personnel on base are not armed...weapons are only handed out at the armory, mostly for training purposes.

However, ALL bases have Security Forces, and these boys are armed to the teeth. Where were they?

The sirens are eerie.
Nothing against the local cops, but it is a sorry day in this country when a military base cannot have an armed response unit.

Has it always been this way or did the anti-gun libs get to the military?

The MP’s etc are fighting a war in Iraq and Afganistan. So Security at military posts has been farmed out to civilian law enforcement.

Due to congressional budget cuts in the 90’s and the current need for troops in combat zones all military installations now have both military police and DOD civilian police, they also work in conjuction with local police forces for crisis response. That is why the swat team is there, whether it is DOD civilian swat or killeen pd I don't know but both are outstanding departments.

Because the only people aloud to carry on base are the MPs. There are very st rick rules for weapons on a military base. More so than outside the gate. Its not like there are guns in lockers they can break out or on their person.

Yep. I was there 1995-99. When I arrived, my CSM, who had known me at Bragg and knew I had liked to tote a gun or three in my trunk so I could go to a range after work, told me I’d best not— it would be a job-killer at least, and time in the stockade if the CG was having a bad day.

Not surprised the rules haven’t loosened in ten years.

Look at this comment made about this tragedy. I don’t think we will ever learn in this country. These dogs are running our streets and we do nothing about them.

Not quite strict enough, look like.
