If the definition of life can just be made as flexible as the definitions of evolution finding life should be no problem.
And if the most sophisticated tests don't show life on Mars, the redefining will begin in earnest so that at the very least the findings become “controversial” meaning awaiting a new explanatory story to tell.

I do think that the caterpillar/butterfly transition shows that some creatures make good use of ‘junk’ DNA.

And you know my love for God is constantly tested. This is just the latest...
In my view, this heaven and earth exists so that we can mature in our love for God and our faith in Him in order to live with Him in the new heaven and earth (Revelation.) After all, God could have just "poofed" the Hebrews from Egypt to the Promised Land (whether on earth or in heaven.) Instead we see them being led to a point with the Red Sea ahead and the Egyptians closing in behind.
It was a powerful opportunity for them to love God, to believe Him and to trust Him.
God doesn't change, we do. He didn't need this heaven and earth, we did.

Indeed, when measured in terms of number of transcripts generated, junk DNA is far more functional than the genetic DNA!
