Honduras bumps up on deadline for unity government

TEGUCIGALPA — Efforts to create a unity government aimed at ending Honduras' four-month political standoff appeared to be dragging past Thursday's deadline, with the overthrown president warning that failing to act was a risky endeavor. "Today is a momentous day," ousted President Manuel Zelaya told Radio Globo from the Brazilian Embassy, where he is holed up under threat of arrest. "Congress has a great role in solving this conflict. If it is not in session to reverse the coup and achieve peace and national reconciliation, the agreement will no longer be fulfilled."

An accord forged last week with the help of U.S. diplomats gave the two sides until Thursday to install a government with supporters of Zelaya and his rival, Roberto Micheletti, who was named president by Congress after Zelaya was removed in a June 28 coup. The accord did not require Zelaya's return to the presidency. The decision was left up to Congress, without a deadline.

In a step forward, the interim Cabinet members all resigned Thursday night to make room for the unity government. However, negotiators for the two sides said they were still mulling over possible candidates to compose the multiparty government....

Time is limited: A new presidential election to select Zelaya's successor is scheduled for Nov. 29. Hundreds of Zelaya supporters gathered outside Congress on Thursday to demand his reinstatement...

What amazes me is how naive the Dept. of State and Zelaya are. Of course Honduras is going to drag its feet. They’ll probably meet the day they inaugurate the new president. I hope Zelaya like Brazilian food.

Remember, the Associated Press is the mouthpiece for Chavez and Obama. The Congress did decide; they determined that Zelaya was committing treason against the Honduran constitution and ordered him removed by the military. Micheletti is not a political foe. He belongs to Zelaya’s party, and isn't allowed to run for President. He is a place keeper until legal elections decide upon the next one term president, as required by their constitution.

Honduras’ neighbor, Nicaragua, has succumbed to Chavez, Castro and Obama. Their old Sandinista Ortega just made himself Presidente for life, following his role models Castro and Chavez, and with their help. Honduras is fighting against tyranny, but with Hillary, Kerry, Obama, Chavez, Ortega, Lulu, and Ahmadenejad trying to complete the Marxist takeover of Central and South America, it will be a miracle if they last until we have dumped our Marxist - if we dump our Marxist!

If Zelaya’s return doesn’t happen until the day of the election, he’s SOL. Honduras meets the demands of the World’s Emperor and the opponent beats Zelaya, then if Z throws a fit, law enforcement kills him and ships his body to The Messiah. Ta da!

Lunch is served, Michelle, ‘Umble pie, dig in.

I would not be surprised if they are PUNKING the commie bozo again. We'll find out that a majority of cabinet members must approve something or do something, and now there won't be any in a official capacity. LOL!
