Thursday's deadly rampage raises a red flag over the issue of combat stress.
The suspected gunman, Major Nidal Malik Hasan, worked on that very issue at the Center for the Study of Traumatic Stress (CSTS), which assesses the behavioral and psychological risks of traumatic events, such as combat, terrorism, natural disasters and public health threats.

Maybe this is pre-traumatic stress disorder. If everything that article says is true, then why aren’t their shoot-ups like this every day committed by returning soldiers, who actually went through the stress? I call BS.
Another sob piece courtesy of the Red Star Tribune; they should add a hammer and sickle to their masthead to complete the symbolism.

“Army Major (Hasan) Played Role in Presidential (Obama) Transition”

Was Hasan heckled by the Troops at Hood for his sympathy for his fellow Muslims. Did he explode and shoot a bunch of them?
Was this about his connection to the Obozo team. Many in the Mil would not like him for this.
Just a question.
Total BS - PTSD has specific signs / characteristics. This man showed none of them. He did, however, apparently make many anti-American comments regarding the war.
Stretching the truth so far it breaks. The “T” in PTSD is “trauma.” Being nervous about deployment to a combat zone isn’t trauma. Getting shot by a homicidal Muslim, that’s trauma.
Its coming. Watching for it on MSNBC.
Commie propaganda.
The media and libs are trying to spin this a PTSD - ah, folks, POST means AFTER.
Is there ONE media outlet that is showing as much concern for all the real victims: the dead and their families and the wounded?
and the bit about the pukes cousin saying poor Hassan was picked on for being a Muslim . Excuse me? Who picks on a Major?
Hear the truth from the horses mouth
Here come the excuses. We all know the terrifying realities of war. Hasan's victims certainly did and he killed them. This makes no sense.
As to PTSD I was never in the military and so was never in a combat zone. I did work as a paramedic in an urban area and saw some very ugly things. Some of it hasn't left me to this day. But I don't feel the urge to kill as a result of it. This pansey did not see ugly up close and personal until he created it.
don’t be swallowing the media spin about the MAJOR being picked on -
Somebody should remind the Red Star that this ass**** never deployed.
How the hell can he have PTSD when he never served ONE DAY in Iraq. He spent years working at Walter Reed..never stepped foot in Iraq or Afghanistan. What’s the media gonna say now..he had the heebie jeebies about going to Iraq that he pre traumatic stress disorder and went on a rampage..please..this guy is no different then the terrorists who go into marine bases in Iraq or Afghanistan and kill innocent soldiers. This guy wanted to die and be a martyr for jihad. He is probably pissed that he survived and isn’t able to be with those 72 virgins he was promised
Lets see. He joined The Army. His education was paid for(read that you and me) and made the rank of Major. I wish someone would pick on me like that.
Hassan was a coward, a liar, and a thief who shot unarmed men and women.
In other words the “ideal” Jihadist.
Someone needs a slap for this. PTSD is no reason to kill. PTSD by proxy is no reason to get a hangnail.
Wrong diagnosis: SJS (Sudden Jihadi Syndrome) seems a much more likely diagnosis
Heckled by the troops? This isnt high school... its the Army! “Troops” dont heckle “Majors”.
