FORT HOOD, Texas (AP) ― Former President George W. Bush and his wife, Laura, visited wounded soldiers and their families near the site of the worst mass shooting on an Army post in the United States.

The Bushes made their private visit to Fort Hood's Darnall Army Medical Center on Friday night. Bush spokesman David Sherzer said in an e-mail that the couple thanked Fort Hood's military leaders and hospital staff for the "amazing care they are providing."

Yeah if it’s supposed to be a photo-op, as I read in one post, where are the pictures? Second, they accused him of never going to visit them when he was pres.! And that there, is one big, dirty, lie! Then they trashed Mr. Cheney and Liz, by saying that Mr. Cheney is a coward (?). Now how is he supposed to be a coward?

If it’s because he didn’t go into the service himself, and go to war; they can’t say a thing! Because neither Bill Clinton or Barak Obama were in any war, and were definitely not in the military, period!

We can't count the times President Bush visited the wounded while he was in office. Any chance he had, anywhere he could, he was there. They were (and still are) the priority. Any time there was a national tradgedy, President Bush was there to offer comfort and support.

And he was at Ft. Hood today, while Obama was taking a nap at Camp David ....

In the rare moments when there was a small opening in his schedule, he would take the time to see his soldiers.

One day, on a visit kept quiet as usual for security reasons, the couple paused to see a soldier whose distraught wife had just arrived. Laura Bush hugged her close, not knowing what else to do.

After eight long years of neglect and embarrassment, the U.S. military finally had a real commander and chief.

That's what we used to have.

I don't know what have now, but it's definitely not a commander-in-chief.

So, his Ft. Hood visit will have to be done by Tuesday at the latest.

I have never met President GW Bush but I think that he does this not because of some political maneuverings but because he must.

perhaps that is one of the reasons that the media-left hated him? they cannot conceive of someone that does something for no gain to themselves
