This is Obama's attempt to signal the press that they had better bury this story with a minimum of investigation.

It is remarkably similar to the statement of Bill Clinton after the killing of Vince Foster, when he coldly and pointedly warned the media, "We will never know the reasons for this," and sure enough, we never heard one more word about it from that day ever after, at least not from the whorehouse media.
