WASHINGTON (Reuters) - The House of Representatives approved a sweeping healthcare reform bill on Saturday, backing the biggest health policy changes in four decades and handing President Barack Obama a crucial victory.
On a narrow 220-215 vote, including the support of one Republican, the House endorsed a bill that would expand coverage to nearly all Americans and bar insurance practices such as refusing to cover people with pre-existing conditions.
Most Republicans criticized its $1 trillion price tag, new taxes on the wealthy and what they said was excessive government interference in the private health sector.
Democrats cheered and hugged when the 218th vote was recorded, and again when House Speaker Nancy Pelosi pounded the gavel and announced the results...

I'm sure there is a rather large circle jerk in progress right now. Barney Frank is most likely the host. A bad day for The Republic.

I’m so p*ssed off I can’t see straight.
Once Barney Frank’s boyfriend was arrested they needed a distraction, so...
Anybody who didn’t KNOW this was going to happen was a moron.
Did not the President of these United States tell us collectively that he won and we should get over it?
I’m NOT clear:
elections have consequences
election do NOT have consequencss (I can whine and moan ‘bout the results on political-discussion boards).
FILL ME IN (you had the bastards by thier tails and WHAT?). So now you’re going to piss and moan about it?
I’m not going to listen to you pissing and moaning about what CHOICES you did or did not have.
YOU had a CHOICE at the election booth.
You chose wrongly.
So am I. But we need to stay focused and not let emotion cloud our judgment. It is shame so many suffered and bled for liberty to see it pissed away like this.
If so, I wonder if any US citizens would apply for tax payer IDS just like illegal immigrants do, and have their employers swap out social security numbers with the IDs and then they would demonstrate that there is no labor being charged to their real social security number, therefore they cannot afford the health taxes or have to pay and just like the illegals also wont have to pay for gov insurance plan out of their own pocket, just as illegals can also refuse to pay any taxes . Since This is the game now, there is no reason why US citizens cannot play along with their shell game too, using (multiple) IDs and have the congress look the other way like they are doing now with those who do this currently.
This law will never be repealed either. I suspect people will come to like their free healthcare and it will become the new untouchable rail. I think Obama wins re-election in a landslide. Welcome to the New Socialist Republic.
That sounds like a plan.
I hear ya blackbart.
I don’t aim weapons at friends.
What are they doing passing such a bill on a Saturday anyway?
It’s not over. It still has to go through the Senate.
Niether do I. I guess we are all a little frustrated right now and sometimes jump the gun. If I did I apoligise.
That is true. With the Rinos in the Senate that will be easy.
It's called a sucker punch. Hit someone when they don't see it coming.
Roger, copy that.
Frustrated?
What does that mean; elections hsve consequences.
You’re not denying elections have consequences?
Dude.
I doubt people are going to like this health care plan messing with everyone given 88% are happy with their current, private heath care plan. Wait til the dems start running campaigns race baiting health care - preferences for this group and death for that group. If we keep the pressure up and do all we can to get conservatives in power, we can strangle it in the crib.
