Dems Run Out of Town: Tax rage ignites a voter revolt in W'chester hamlet

LEWISBORO, NY -- The voters' revolt against high taxes and a deep recession was so intense that even community leaders of New York's sleepiest hamlets got tossed.

Nowhere was this more evident than in the tiny town of Lewisboro -- a northern Westchester municipality of 12,000 near the Connecticut border.

Mirroring the upheavals in higher-profile races, like the defeat of New Jersey Gov. Jon Corzine, cranky voters in Lewisboro threw out their own Democratic leaders.

Why is it ‘cranky’ to throw a Dem out of office - seems like the thing to do, doesn’t it? I find it quite uplifting, frankly speaking.

True. Still, it's good to see that at least some are as P.O'd as I am.

There is a huge battle coming up, between private sector workers and public sector employees, over pensions and the raw size of the government payroll. There is no way the private sector will pay to cover generous and underfunded pensions when private sector working stiffs don’t have any pension coverage. And this WILL get very ugly.

The Dem had to lie to win. And the GOP had to screw up royally to help them.

The Dems are going to run out of believable lies very, very soon.

someone brought a pitchfork to the voting both! I love it! This town of 12,000 has 50 employees and a $10 million budget. Do the math - that is $200,000 per employee!

I, for one, am leaving NY State before I turn 55. No way I’m going to keep working 10 additional years to pay for the early retirement of a public sector employee. No way in hell.

We lost a House seat, but gained two governorships (plus a bunch of other state offices). Overall, it's a gain.

This has happened ALL over the US in the last election. Local and state elections do not make national news but together they have a huge impact.

Expect lots of towns and schools boards to start standing up to public sector unions. Expect lots of strikes. Expect lots of bitterness.

The good news? Public sectors unions are about to get their heads handed to them and spend lots of money that they now can not give to national races.

I think that's probably because they left Scozzafava on the ballot & people voted for her even though she withdrew.

I'd take that question one step further...

Why is it that When Dems are voted out, voters are being "Cranky"....

But when Republicans are voted out, voters are "enlightened"?

The revolt in Westchester County wasn't limited to the little Village of Lewisboro. The GOP challanger for County Excutive blew away the three term RAT incumbant. This is significant because the County of Westchester has a population of about 900,000 people and has been mostly blue during the few election cycles.

This may be the most important story of the day. It is the beginning of the revolt, not of the masses but against the masses.

Is this the conservatives’ beachhead in the effort to liberate NY? Maybe something will catch fire across the state.

>>I, for one, am leaving NY State before I turn 55. No way I’m going to keep working 10 additional years to pay for the early retirement of a public sector employee. No way in hell.<<

I’m 55 and have lived in Seattle since 1966. I bought a 13 acre farm/ranch in central Kentucky with a two year old house on it last October on a handshake. We closed this August - yeah, I got $8k of my taxes back. :)

I’m leaving Washington state for the same reason your leaving NY. And I just learned they approved Seattle’s Big Dig. HAHAHAHA!!!
