Fort Hood suspect was reportedly e-mailing al-Qaeda supporter (but don't call him a terrorist)

The Army psychiatrist suspected of killing 12 soldiers and a civilian here last week was in e-mail contact earlier this year with a radical cleric in Yemen who has decried what he calls America's war against Islam, a federal law enforcement official said Monday.

U.S. intelligence agencies intercepted between 10 and 20 e-mails from Maj. Nidal M. Hasan to Anwar al-Aulaqi, a U.S. citizen who once was a spiritual leader at the suburban Virginia mosque where Hasan had worshipped, Rep. Peter Hoekstra (Mich.), the ranking Republican on the House Intelligence Committee, said later Monday. Aulaqi responded to Hasan at least twice, Hoekstra said, but he described the responses as "innocent."

The FBI dropped an inquiry into the matter after determining that the e-mails did not warrant further investigation, according to a law enforcement official, who spoke under the condition of anonymity.

"For me, the number of times that this guy tried to reach out to the imam was significant," Hoekstra said in an interview.

The revelations came as Hoekstra and other congressional leaders complained about a lack of information from the intelligence community in the days since Thursday's shooting and raised questions about the adequacy of the surveillance of Hasan in the month's leading up to the massacre.

Previous post on Hasan’s VA Imam’s blog site text and responders to it. Please don’t go directly to the site and help this scum make money while he lives in Yemen and preaches jihad.

His family sure seems to be covering for him; they claim that he is a peaceful American who was bullied and harassed and just wanted out then they hire a lawyer for him ASAP after finding out they he's alive.

THEY KNEW.

And, of course, he was acting alone according to investigators. Though he emailed a major American jihadist, living in Yemen, who is an outspoken supporter and facilitator for al-qaeda. Gosh, do you think he had some help in planning this little personal jihad. He must have planned to get away for his virgins. About which see stories on his conversations with his imam, who said he couldn’t get a girlfriend because he had “too many conditions”. He also went to a strip club, just prior to the killings, and just like the 9/11 hijackers. Imagine, a muslim who drinks!

Sure did know. And knew enough to ask for a cracker jack former Army lawyer to stop any questions. After all,he has rights... like to right to maintain operational silence for his team.

Hasan made his views clear to his colleagues and patients, even being put on probation for expressing them. Imagine what he said to his family.

THEY NEED TO INVESTIGATE HIS FAMILY.

Another dot perhaps:

It is confirmed that this Anwar al-Aulaqi, in addition to leading the mosque in Virginia, WAS ALSO THE MUSLIM "CHAPLAIN" AT GEORGE WASHINGTON UNIVERSITY (GWU).

GEORGE WASHINGTON UNIVERSITY is the site of the think thank HSPI which the Muslim shooter Hasan participated in some events as a registered guest. In fact, he got into the campus of GWU for a Januar 2009 speech by the Israel Ambassador, sitting just feet away--could well have been armed or at least casing the joint/making a dry run. OK, who got Hasan into the GWU campus (events)? (Connections through al-Aulaqi? Other people, such as on-campus Muslim Group? You don't just walk in off the street into these events. Come clean!!!)

He asked that all documents and materials connected to the shootings be preserved, saying that the Obama administration "is in possession of critical information related to the attack that they are refusing to release to Congress."

This to me was the most interesting part of the entire article. What does Obama have to gain by witholding information about Hasan?

Possibly Obama had had some personal contact with Hasan? Or possibly Hasan had sent e-mails to the WH, knowing that a fellow anti-American Muslim was occupying the Oval Office?

Now that would be something.(personal contact with Hasan) I’m not so sure emails to the White House would be seen in the same light. But I guess it depends what they might contain.

In addition, maybe it’s about Hasan’s military career. I think a doctor is automatically a major, but I read here that he had received some kind of promotion not that long ago. I don’t know enough about military rank to know what that might be, if he was already a major and had been for some time, but that might be an aspect to look into (if it’s true).

Yeah well, his cousin is a lawyer and I'm sure he's working with the family to build up a defense.

Along with 0, apparently.
