"I think they are using the stick."

I believe that to be the case, also. I appreciate your input.

I have a question for you. Why is the US so concentrated on Iran's possible nuclear weapons capabilities and ignoring North Korea's nukes? I don't get it.

Probably because Israel stands a good chance at being wiped off the map. That probably has something to do with it. Also, more or less, the intelligence on Iran is more clear than with North Korea, where it is so hard to get a clear picture due to little to now humint and also North Koreans hiding everything underground.

You were right about North Korean TV tonight (about two and a half hours ago, at the 5 p.m. hour) which we could pick up in Tokyo.

They had the blathering idiot on there at the top of the news, although this one was not PMS-Ajumma, but appeared to be more of an Agashi (young woman), actually not too bad looking but she sure spouted the DPRK vitriol.

And it went down like this, according to North Korean TV.

The South Korean Navy infilitrated DPRK maritime terrority. The gun battle ensued. The South Korean vessel as hit. It was a fait daccompli, and they fled from North Korean waters. Now it is SOUTH KOREAN which owes the Democratic Peoples Republic an apology. She spat it out like bile.

He’ll wait until well after South Korea is overrun before making any military decision to defend a free country.

No surprise then. I was interested in what new bomb shell (or some announcement to that effect) will be announced in their news cast. Such as blathering about abrogating Armistice agreement altogether.

Let's sit back and watch. It all boils down to what Chia Head is thinking tonight.

We're borrowing oodles of money from China.

“She spat it out like bile. “

The alternative was eating sawdust in a labor camp.

Right. Chia Head turned one of his aging navy boats into a Swiss cheese to make this little point. A pathetic loser.

Right. The US Iowa Class battleship is pretty old too, but i still wouldn't want to engage it with just the 5" forward gun on an Aegis cruiser. The Aegis would end up a burning oil slick on the ocean.

Just saying that old doesn't necessarily mean not capable. i have NO idea what type of ships are in service in the DPRK navy, but i imagine that the ROK navy is pretty well equipped.

The real question here is whether Kim is still calling the shots in the DPRK.

Their ship is bigger, and more guns. Their weapons on board are all manually controlled, though.

S. Korean ship is newer and faster. It has computer controlled auto-cannons on board. Targeting and firing are said to be done more or less automatically. More precise and focused damage to enemy ship.

In the previous match several years ago, SK ship took the hit first and badly damaged, but once it started firing, it pretty much leveled NK ship. The top half was gone.

Thanks for the info.

What kind of navy does the ROK possess? i’d be interested in their ships in particular. US design?

i was always more concerned about the air and ground aspect of a war between the DPRK and the ROK. Had always assumed (bad word, i know) that the sea lanes would be shut down by US fast attack subs.

If ground hostilities happen, we’re pretty much spectators, since we don’t have many troops to commit any more, and no easy way to get them there.

Yes, a majority of them are U.S. design. Some old U.S. surface ships and now several Aegis destroyers.
Submarines are of German design, I think.
There are many patrol ships. Not sure if they are also of U.S. design.

Hang on, could be a bumpy ride.

This incident sure as the potential of taking the Health Scare and C&T debacles off the front burner & far from the public eye.
Funny, that.

Let us keep our eyes on the ball.
