I understand you perception, which I do not share. I agree with you wholeheartedly that socialism is a pernicious evil, I submit that the Church has been one of the greatest bulwarks against materialist philosophies that have dominated the past 150 years.

All your thoughts written here, have been written 150 by the popes of the time. Yes, some individuals have strayed, and others are liars who profane the name of God, but why would you gage the Church by those? They are everywhere.
