Bloomberg can't be posted on FR, so I can only post a link.

With an apology, of course.
Well then it is settled because we all know old Gorby was the guy who torn down that wall.
Damn commies. They are like zombies. How did this come to pass?

We aren’t getting are A$$’s handed to us the way the Soviets did..but Gorby wouldn’t understand that.
Gorby, the next American Czar?
Well, Gorby outranks McCrystal, so do what he say, do what he say!!!
From one loser to another.
In the only free election Gorby ran in he got 1% of the vote.
Look, if Obama tomorrow got in front of the mike and said, "I'm pulling our forces out of Afghanistan", I could handle that. I may even agree with it, as mission drift and rules of engagement have tied the hands of our soldiers, and just made them targets.
If he decided to ramp up troop deployment, for yet another spring campaign, I could even accept that.
Instead, we have abdication of his duties as commander in chief. He has no problem finding time in his schedule to go to Oslo, but no time to make a decision that affects the lives of our young people in service.
Then again, this is what he's always done. Photo ops, speeches, and that's about it.
Gorbachev would like nothing better than for the US to follow in the defeatist footsteps of the USSR in Afghanistan.
can’t say i disagree.
the prior administration chose Iraq as a fighting ground for terrorism.
this administration has chosen Afghanistan.
(neither one attacked us.)
history tells us we’ve made the wrong choice.
That’s nothing; the Democrats are planning to run Gorby for President in 2012. After all, we know now that it isn’t absolutely necessary to be born in the US to be president, and neo-communism has become tres chic in America.
Have to agree that this is a place that can NOT be converted to any kind of reasonable government. Most of the country is divided into tribes and are controlled locally. While we can and did stop the Taliban from supporting Al Quieda, it will probably continue after we are long gone.
Our position should be to prevent a re-occurrence through vigilance using air and sea power. It is time to take the troops out let these natives continue their backward ways...
Gorbachev is right here - and he has the experience.
The wine stain has finally penetrated the cerebral matter.
I doubt that 0bama will pay much attention to Gorbachev. He is waiting for advice from the ghosts of Lenin and Mao before he decides for certain.
The basic problem with Afghanistan is the widespread corruption. Reminds me of the Claude Rains character in CASABLANCA except much much worse (think a thousand times worse).
