You can just imagine a pyroclastic flow racing down the sides of that sharp peak. Not a real good neighborhood to be in just now.

What happens if it blows and throws up all that ash and pollution into the atmospere? We need to get Al Gore over there right away and put a stop to this.

When Mt. Pinatubo blew in the early 90’s it cooled the planet for two years at least. That will just not do right now, because Al Gore and his minions are so close to their global warming golden goose of cap and trade. They would have it already if the damn earth hadn’t started cooling on it’s own early this decade........................

More than two years alter the Philippine volcano Mr. Pinatubo blew its top in June 1991, debris from the eruption continues to warp Earth’s climate, according to atmospheric measurements. Scientists studying records from 1993 say the Pinatubo blast caused temperatures in the stratosphere to plummet, reaching record lows at the end of the year.

“It’s mighty cool up there. These are the lowest temperatures since 1958,” says James K. Angell, an atmospheric researcher with the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) in Silver Spring, Md.

There also was a 5.5 earthquake Wednesday morning in NE Mindanao. No report yet from Mrs ASA Vet's family who live there.

This has happened quite often. Mayon is dangerous, and potentially threatens the whole province of Albay. My father grew up in a nearby town, and he recalled that they had to evacuate. An uncle who farmed there later had to evacuate villagers from the slopes.

There’s no hurry. Mayon calendar says it won’t erupt until 2012.
