Ten - count 'em - ten writers assigned to this. I wonder how many AP fact-checkers were assigned to fact check "Dreams of My Father?"

Oh yeah, none.

Among the "Facts" checked:

PALIN: Writes about a city councilman in Wasilla, Alaska, who owned a garbage truck company and tried to push through an ordinance requiring residents of new subdivisions to pay for trash removal instead of taking it to the dump for free — this to illustrate conflicts of interest she stood against as a public servant.

THE FACTS: As Wasilla mayor, Palin pressed for a special zoning exception so she could sell her family's $327,000 house, then did not keep a promise to remove a potential fire hazard on the property.

So now explain this to me: Wouldn't a "Fact Check" of this claim involve, oh I don't know, finding out if this city councilman in Wasilla, Alaska, who owned a garbage truck company, tried to push through an ordinance requiring residents of new subdivisions to pay for trash removal?

I see no indication that this fact was checked, only a bunch of talking points designed to make her look bad, which do NOT in ANY way belie her statement.

As Palin said in her facebook posting: buy the book and read it, compare with what AP and others have said, then make up your own mind.

In other words: “think”

To the Drive-by media, a fact is anything they say, and a non-fact is anything that they don’t like.

AP writers Matt Apuzzo, Sharon Theimer, Tom Raum, Rita Beamish, Beth Fouhy, H. Josef Hebert, Justin D. Pritchard, Garance Burke, Dan Joling and Lewis Shaine contributed to this report.

Boy, are we ganging up or what?

That is classic argumentum Red Herring. It also is used to argue against an opponent, making AP, in this article, her de-facto opponent, as opposed to a news reporting agency.

“THE FACTS: Palin is blurring the lines between Obama’s stimulus plan”

At this point I stopped reading. I always knew the AP was pro-DemonRat, being 50% owned by Arabs, but I didn’t think they would make their bias so apparent.

Using a phrase like “blurring the lines” is not the language of fact checkers, its the language of apologists.

The AP will have to face the FACT that 0bama is imploding for all to see and they are going down with him. Palin will benefit most from the fact she was warning us about him and the fact the media is so closely tied to 0bama to this day. These people are sick and they are showing how ridiculous and laughable they are with these continued attempts to demonize Palin.

This must be a first. Nobody scares the hell out of these people like Sarah does. I’ll take her word over that of the OMaoist media. Clearly their goal is to destroy her.

Hey AP, your Pelosicrats are going to lose, and your idiot in the White House is going down as the worst president in the history of America. He’s already there. Waste your time going after Sarah.

I don't want to believe this stuff, and I don't trust the "objective" source of it.

But I haven't read the book yet, and it doesn't appear that the FReepers thus far responding have the goods on this stuff. Maybe we just ought to hold this discussion in abeyance until the dust clears a bit . . .

"Ten - count 'em - ten writers assigned to this. I wonder how many AP fact-checkers were assigned to fact check "Dreams of My Father?"

Good point. Hopefully, this will become the Republican's talking point when and if they're asked about Palin on this weekend's chat shows.

Sadly, irrespective of the accuracy, or lack thereof, with respect to the AP's "fact checks", these will get picked up everywhere and repeated as the gospel, cementing them as true in the mind's of the public. In politics, it's not the truth that matters, but public perception.

Until conservatives and the GOP learn to effectively counter the smarmy MSM and their criminal co-conspirators in the MSM, it's going to be increasingly difficult for the GOP and conservatives to retake the White House.

The only value I see in reading anything from the AP anymore is it lets you know what they are lying about.

Hey prestitutes and other criminal propagandists of the MSM.

How about checking the fact that you failed to cover major facts and events during the previous administration and the current one...and presented spun "reporting" which fit your communist agenda, calling it journalism.

The name of your so-called "news game" is Bias-by-omission.

Not only did you FAIL to report facts, you also fabricated stories out of thin air and then shamelessly reported them as facts.

This is nothing less than Journalistic Malpractice. Americans deserve far better than this farcical ruse.

RESIGN NOW dirtbags! (you should be charged with treason)

They haven't even gotten around to fact-checking the cover. You know, the part that says "by Barack Obama."

That’s how Media Matters “fact checks” — they tell you a fact that a conservative presented, and then give you some random other “fact” which may actually be false, and say that somehow this negates the fact that the conservative presented.

If this is the best they could come up with, the book must be fairly truthful. Most of these "gotchas" involve ambiguities and matters of emphasis, matters of opinion, matters of degree, or minor imprecisions. An army of fact-checkers could come up with lists like this - or even much longer lists - for virtually any politician, including Obama and all of the Democratic congressional leadership.

For example, Palin's pricey hotel accomodations at one event in the Big Apple - where accomodations tend to be pricey across the board - do not undermine her generally frugal manner when traveling as governor. Again, compare her behavior with virtually any politician. And the dispute about the content of the the Vogue interview is a "he said/she said" conflict of memory, and not even a total conflict at that.

The most significant point:
PALIN: Boasts that she ran her campaign for governor on small donations, mostly from first-time givers, and turned back large checks from big donors if her campaign perceived a conflict of interest.

THE FACTS: Of the roughly $1.3 million she raised for her primary and general election campaigns for governor, more than half came from people and political action committees giving at least $500, according to an AP analysis of her campaign finance reports.
