Napolitano Announces Obama Administration Plan to Give Amnesty to Illegal Aliens

Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano said Friday that the Obama administration will push for “immigration reform” by giving the estimated 14 million people who are in the United States illegally “fair pathway to earned legal status.”

“A tough and fair pathway to earned legal status will mandate that illegal immigrants meet a number of requirements—including registering, paying a fine, passing a criminal background check, fully paying all taxes and learning English,” Napolitano said Friday at a panel discussion at the liberal Center for American Progress in Washington, D.C.

“These are substantial requirements that will make sure this population gets right with the law,” Napolitano said. “It will help fix our broken system.”

Napolitano said the Obama administration is working to end the recession and put Americans back to work but said giving legal status to illegal aliens will “strengthen our economy.”

“Requiring illegal immigrants to register to earn legal status, as I discussed earlier, will strengthen our economy as these immigrants become full-paying taxpayers,” Napolitano said. “As labor leaders have made clear to me, immigration reform will be a boon to American workers.

“Think about it: unions will never achieve the best terms for workers when a large part of the workforce is illegal and operates in a shadow economy,” Napolitano said. “By contrast, the status quo not only hurts American workers, it also stifles potential opportunities to grow our economy.”

Napolitano said that she has seen a “major shift” in the immigration landscape, which the Obama administration hopes will make it easier for Congress to pass new immigration laws.

We should send them all back and put armed patriots on the border who would shoot anyone who tried to cross.

While my gut says you’re too high, none of us really knows do we. I can’t fault you for holding that view. We’ve got an immigration problem that is way out of control. It angers me to know that our Presidents sworn to protect the states against invasion, have taken a pass, in fact wish to enable those in our nation illegally.

No, not all illegals are Hispanic, but a high percentage of them are. We’re looking at 65 to 75% of them. It’s also true that of this group, many of them come here with less than an eighth grade education. Not a small sum, with less than a fourth grade education. So not only are they not educated in English, but they haven’t even been educated in Spanish either.

As for Democrats vs Republicans, they both are in the hip pocket of the illegal. Sad..., but true.

If we continue to allow the Republican Party to exist as a branch of the DNC, no. If we put the Republican Party on notice, and stick with it, perhaps.

There’s an effort being fronted by some people to vote every single Congressman out next November. They are also trying to get people to vote every Senator up for re-election out over the next three cycles, starting in 2010.

If that were to take place, and we were to get a decent Conservative in the White House, it would only be a start.

There have been so many leftists ensconced in the Washington, D.C. infrastructure, that the elected officials actually have a hard time getting everything acted upon even if it is passed. A leftist bureaucrat can really throw a wrench in the process if they drag their feet on things they can affect.

Then there’s the states.

This sounds impossible, and it may be next to impossible. For as long as the Republican Party can drag it’s feet on returning to core principles, it will be. Remember my comments about leftist bureaucrats above? Read that the Republican Party at least in part.

It’s blatantly clear what this nation needs. For the time being, they are having very little of it.

Getting rid of the leftist bureaucrats is job one IMO.

I thought that the illegal aliens were already paying taxes and that's why the Dems want them made legal - after all they are paying their way. . .at least that's what we have been told all this time.

They don't even try to spin things anymore - they just flat out lie and do what they want to. I'm SICK.

I am on your side. Also, I am in a group trying to elect more conservative, or at least saner, people to state and county offices. I believe that focusing on congressional seats only will be less effective than focusing on both local and national elections simultaneously.

It remains to be seen how much damage Obama will be able to do to the judicial branch. Once they are in office, they are almost impossible to get rid of. Let's say we did elect a real conservative POTUS and congress, and they allowed more domestic drilling. When the leftists say that will take 10 or 20 years to see any benefits, they may be right, because it would take that long to get through the legal challenges.

WRT immigration, if we had stronger immigration enforcement, they would mount legal challenges while claiming that enforcement was not effective.

Nevertheless, I will still fight amnesty from either party with all my heart.

SSocialist regimes promoting mass immigration?

UK(socialists let their country be flooded by “asian” immigrants for political reasons), Spain(Zapatero the socialist PM made a big global amnesty for illegals when he began his first term), France(can be considered as a socialist country since a long time and it has seen a massive immigration )

That’s the “new fashioned” socialism

None of them are “promoting mass immigration” any longer. There has been a tremendous backlash that has been going on now for years. It will change the political map of Europe. The BNP, Le Pen, etc. are gaining strength because the public wants to retain their culture and language.

I disagree .
I live in France and know that mass immigration is still going on even if political leaders stopped promoting it.
They know that people don’t want mass immigration but they also want to undermine grassroot conservatives movement.
SARKOZY in France is the “king” of double-speech meanwhile LEPEN party is gowing down in the polls since a few years(LEPEN took an antiamerican stance and supported his “friend” S.HUSSEIN, he made an alliance with a black antisemitic “humorist”).
France, above all, and western europe is in a deep mud.

BTW that’s why many officials and in the medias praised OBAMAO’s election thinking that USA will look like the old western europe taking the path of Balkanization or Lebanization

If there is mass immigration (outside the internal migration within the EU), it is illegal. The UK has reduced its legal immigration numbers. Sarkozy has supported a repatriation program for not only illegals but also legal immigrants who want to return home. There has been huge political fallout in Scandanavia over immigration.

I have lived a total of 13 years in 5 European countries and my wife is a European. The immigration issue is gaining more and more traction in Europe as the impact is becoming more visible. Europeans will do more to protect their culture and heritage (except for the UK, which will die via the ballot box) than the US in that regard. There is a reason why there are so many countries in Europe despite hundreds of years of war and occupation. They will endure because they will do whatever is necessary to protect their patrimony even if it is extralegal or violates civil rights.
