Holder vows Gitmo defendants will not be released in the U.S.

Holder vows Gitmo defendants will not be released in the U.S. By Susan Crabtree - 11/13/09 04:31 PM ET

Attorney General Eric Holder has pledged not to allow the release of dangerous detainees in the United States if they are found not guilty in federal court or if their case is thrown out on a technicality.

Holder made the assurances in a written response to a question posed by Sen. Jon Kyl (R-Ariz.) obtained by The Hill. The 55-page document provided answers to questions from several senators on the Judiciary Committee in advance of a Wednesday oversight hearing on Justice Department policies and practices.

“Where we have legal detention authority, as the President has stated, we will not release anyone into the United States if doing so would endanger our national security or the American people,” Holder wrote. “There are a number of tools at the government’s disposal to ensure that no such detainee is released into the United States, all of which are currently being reviewed by the Special Interagency Task Force on Detention Policy...”

Holder repeatedly dodged that question in a Friday briefing with reporters regarding the announcement that 10 of Guantanamo’s most high-profile terrorist suspects would be tried in U.S. courts. Khalid Sheikh Mohammed, known as KSM, the self-described mastermind of the attacks, along with four suspected accomplices now held at Guantanamo Bay prison in Cuba, will be tried in a civilian court in Manhattan, Holder said.

When asked how the administration could assure family members of victims of the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks that the suspects would not be let go or exonerated on a technicality and be set free, Holder did not respond directly. Instead, he expressed confidence that the prosecutions would be successful.

For every one of those terrorists they’re bringing to New York from Gitmo, there will be ten radicals that Holder knows nothing about.

So even if he’s telling the truth about the Gitmo detainees, who protects New York from their ten each fellow travelers?

Either the Democrats are unqualified to lead, or they are very qualified and working for the other team.

Either way, they must go.

When this POS opens his mouth, I just automatically assume he is lying. Can I make that assumption?

Holder is proving that justice in this country is a thing of the past. A SHOW Trial is not justice.

Everyone that believes anything Holder says, raise their right hand. Or respond with the reason[s] you believe him.

So Holder is vowing to violate the judiciary process if they are found not guilty even if a judge orders their immediate release?

Either the Democrats are unqualified to lead, or they are very qualified and working for the other team.

If it were the former, they'd do something in America's best interest every once in a while by accident.

That leaves the latter.

I’d suggest checking with the FALN terrorists who were pardoned by Clinton through the efforts of Eric Holder on this one.

Of course, if they’re released into the middle east, they’ll probably just open up a hookah bar and we’ll never hear from them again. Or maybe they’ll just regroup and start plotting their next move against civilization.

Yep, it's nothing more than to put Bush and Cheney on trial. This one will backfire big time on Obama and there's no way he will dig out of it.

If these guys get off on a technicality, there will be a march on Washington that dwarfs anything they’ve ever seen. That, I believe, would be the final straw.

” Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.), a Judiciary Committee member and military lawyer, is keeping his powder dry for now.
In a statement issued by his office Friday afternoon,
Graham said Obama had asked him to withhold comment for now, which he has agreed to do. “

As far as I’m concerned Lindsey can withhold his comments forever.
These two sound pretty cozy.

You are probably right. That way, he can go back to planning for the nuclear strike on America we all hope never happens, but fear that it will.

This trial won’t even start for a year or so, I believe. By that time, Americans will probably have accepted sharia or, if not, will be so used to the idea that they won’t even be bothered by the idea of Khalid and the gang on the loose.

Heck, Obama will probably put him in charge of the Defense Department.

How can this ahole have it both ways? On one hand he wants to have them tried according the law of the land which he pretends to care about. On the other hand he intends to ignore the law if they are found not guilt??

This is the biggest FUBAR in a long line of them for this administration.

It’s completely obvious to me, and a wonder that no one else has even mentioned this . . . .

Obambi and Holdup are putting these terrorists in NYC as a beacon for their terrorist buddies to come and either spring them with the associated massive loss of American lives, or to martyr them with an equally massive loss of American lives (preferably via a nuclear device).

They WANT a large scale terrorist attack on American soil in order to cement their power via emergency action. They see the loss of NYC as inconsequential in their drive to crown Odumbo America’s first emperor.

They have proven time and again that they care less than little for the average American. They have done everything they could to bring down our financial system, our manufacturing capacity, and even our food production (see California and the sacred smelt). All that’s left is their own little “Reichstag fire”, and NYC is as good a spot for it as any.

Mark my words, it will happen before the 2012 elections, probably days before (Obumba will work with the terrorists to orchestrate the attack so that it will help him the most).

The whole “trial” thingy is totally bogus anyway. The “suspects” have admitted guilt - which makes them no longer eligible for being called suspects - they have no defense, nor want one and they have asked for execution. Tell me why admitted - and boastful - terrorists should be tried in a civilian criminal court in NY? Will they also have to try them in DC and then Shanksville, PA since those areas were part of the attacks, too?

This is all a facade to try the Bush administration, the CIA, the FBI, and to throw state secrets to the wind. I'm not buyin’ what BO and Holder are hocking, damn it!!!

The only reason we need a government is to defend us. If any one of these 9/11 terrorists is released anywhere for any reason, this government should be thrown out immediately.

Hello...??? Excuse me, Mr. Attorney General, but do you actually believe in "due process" or don't you...??? If they courts decide that he qualifies for release due to a collection of legal issues/violations, then he should be allowed to walk.

You cannot place him in the civilian courts, provide him with constitutional protections/safeguards and then not allow the legal process to take its own course.

If your going to attempt to play your cards in that fashion, then what in the hell is point of this entire spectacle ....???

We're gonna do everything we can to give you a fair trail, and then we're gonna keep you behind bars....??
