The fervent critical comments made here in reaction to one sentence released by an unfriendly source, ABC, from a lengthy interview, indicates that some on FR are expending enormous time and energy trying to destroy Sarah Palin.

No one could make any assessment about Palin's judgement from that one line. That does not stop the operatives on FR from jumping at any opportunity to confuse Palin's supporters and wound her politically.

It is bad enough having to tolerate the politics of personal destruction in the press, much less on FR.

If Palin were a Mormon, I would want to hear her views on how her faith might affect her ability to govern. If Romney had a daughter with a child out of wedlock, I would accept his decision as to whether to speak about the subject, but if he did, assess his response.

Palin decided to answer the question honestly. If the public believes that her answer reflects well on her, then answering the question will have been to her great advantage.

That should have been obvious to everyone. But we had to have this crew descend on the thread to try to spin something negative about Palin from this. Their tortured reasoning, effort and perseverance makes me wonder why a volunteer would bother.

If people feel like gossiping about other people’s teens having sex, go. Have at it.

Just don’t take your eye off the ball. We need a Presidential candidate DESPERATELY who is a true conservative down to his/her heart and soul, and who has the balls/ovaries to stand up and speak the truth and doesn’t care if he/she is universally loved or even called a name or mocked. That candidate might be Sarah. Let’s keep watching.

Ronald Reagan’s teens had sex too. No one is perfect. For every teen who got into trouble with sex or drugs is at least one parent. Many of those parents are conservative. Get over it.

You are most welcome, I just stated the simple facts. The pattern is getting clear, there is a Palin cult building up on this forum. This is not the Conservative way.

It seems to me that Sarah speaks honestly and openly as is natural to her personality. Her statement about her daughter maybe reveals more about her and the naivete she exhibits that makes her attractive to many.

Liberals are always ascribing their personality tendencies on conservatives and I think the same is true for a conservative like Sarah. She can't imagine someone who would not be honest and open when answering a question. As you get older you understand you don't have to answer the questions, but I don't think you automatically become cynical. There seems to be a part of her that even in the political realm still expects the best of everyone.

Correct.

I am reminded of Frank Herbert, who thought of the way humans see "messiahs" like JFK while writing the book DUNE. Herbert was revolted by the idea of such heroes, and the whole point of his book was so people WOULDN'T follow heroes, but chart their own way through life, without the false messiah leading them.

I've spent probably two years now mocking the other side for their ridiculous cult of Obama, but I'm starting to realize that some people were actually jealous--they want a Republican Obama to follow.

**** that.

Ronald Reagan was a leader, but his whole drive was about getting government off our backs.

I don't think Palin is another Obama, and I don't think she wants to be. I'm not so sure about some of her fans, though.

The fact that you used curse words shows your lack self-control. You've been reported for abuse.

I get the impression that she happy for the first time since she was thrust into the limelight by John McCain.

Those of us that pay attention to politics knew who the most popular Governor in America was, that was female and had a 93% approval rating. You did not know this stuff right?

Maybe its time we voted for a woman president. The men seem to do nothing but screw up this country. Time for some real hope and change. Women by nature and God-given talent, are more capable of multi-tasking than men. There are many instances in the Bible of women in leadership. God chosen women! Sounds like some bigotry if someone can vote for a black weenie, but, not a woman. (color doesn’t matter anyway) In fact, I think bam bam’s true colors are red and yellow.

You should be advised not to be such a fuddy duddy :) Man some people on here are so prude. Get a life. What is she going to say when asked about this. Oh I won’t answer that etc... etc... she would be attacked for that. Best thing is to answer all questions and be straight forward. People like that. At least not judge mental people who find fault with everyone else to fulfill their own perfect world. Man cut her a break my fellow Freepers. She needs cross appeal so maybe fact she is getting a few of you upset is good so she can appeal to more people.

Chet, I nominate this thread of yours as the *best* for 2009 (from you personally anyhow), all of the ingredients are here, all of the pro and anti Sarah voices, the fists raised for one reason or another, and it has nothing to do with PITBULLS! LMAO

Well, kinda. ;)

‘F&cq the left! I don’t give a tinker’s damn what they say about anything. They are nothing but vicious, evil b@st@rds. If they have to, they will invent stories to trash Palin or anyone else who won’t kowtow to their perverted, twisted ideology. ‘

quite frankly I think I feel the same way.

“Barbara Walters asked her the question. This is one time you should shoot the messenger.

What do you expect Sarah to do. Say ‘no comment’.”

Correct Answer: Hey Barbra, I didn’t know my kid was messing around anymore than the public knew you were messing around with that married Sen. Edward Brooke. Does that make me foolish somehow?

“I no longer have any sympathy for her when it comes to attacks on her family. She brings it up, so it’s fair game. “

She doesn’t bring it up. The left is constantly looking for ways to attack her through her kids.

Kids are never fair game.

***She brings her family into the political realm. It’s not a choice I would make in her position.***

I find it interesting that it was the libs who flashed sex in front of all our young girls with their movies, TV, books and classroom teaching. Now, when a young girl from a Republican family falls for their filth, they blame a Republican mother for the girl’s behavior.

From the AP headline: “Sarah Palin says she didn’t know her daughter Bristol was sexually active...”

The inference in that headline is that people thought she DID know and approved of it. Leave it to AP to destroy someone with just a headline.

Dude...from your profile page. And you are giving parenting advise? Really?

Dude what difference would that make? Think man think. Would you put a baby in a pen with an alligator expecting it to not get eaten? Any intelligent person knows that if you put two young people together alone sex is going to happen eventually. Just as the child will get eaten by the alligator if left in the pen too long. Its only a mater of time.

I was once a young man you know and I know that I was tempted to put my hands on a girl. If you understand the nature of a thing you can do something to minimize the effect of that nature.

Simple common sense.

If a politician says their family is off limits and they refuse to do interviews that involve these questions these
issues go away. Particularly with a hot ticket like Palin these days. Nobody asked O about a million different topics he didn’t want to answer, and this was a condition of the press getting interviews with him.

A woman who has the support she has is doing just fine. She is the reason McCain got the votes he did.

No candidate is perfect. Sarah is a conservative and not one of the GOP endorsed RINOs. Thats enough for me to put her in front of any other candidate I’ve heard about.
