We were ready to use the second and last bomb in our inventory in case the Japanese didn't believe that we couldn't have any more bombs and "called our bluff."
As it turned out, had they called our bluff for the second time, they would have been right.
IMO, it was the right decision to use two bombs to convince the Japanese that the cost of not surrendering could have inflicted eventual annihilation.
Not saying you’re wrong...I’m wondering if we’d announced that we’d use a second bomb if the Japanese didn’t surrender within a few days...if maybe they might have.
We’ll never know...but I’m not sure Nagasaki was necessay...what?...four days after Hiroshima?
Truman was essentially right...that Obama would not know this is AMAZING.
