A plan to slash more than $500 billion from future Medicare spending -- one of the biggest sources of funding for President Obama's proposed overhaul of the nation's health-care system -- would sharply reduce benefits for some senior citizens and could jeopardize access to care for millions of others, according to a government evaluation released Saturday.
The report, requested by House Republicans, found that Medicare cuts contained in the health package approved by the House on Nov. 7 are likely to prove so costly to hospitals and nursing homes that they could stop taking Medicare altogether.

... "exacerbating existing access problems" in that program, according to the report from Richard S. Foster of the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services.

"This report confirms what virtually every independent expert has been saying: [House] Speaker [Nancy] Pelosi's health-care bill will increase costs, not decrease them," said Rep. Dave Camp (Mich.),..."This is a stark warning to every Republican, Democrat and independent worried about the financial future of this nation."

Now it's "Eat the Old."
"Show me just what Mohammed brought that was new, and there you will find only things evil and inhuman, such as his command to spread by the sword the faith he preached." - Manuel II Palelogus
These people are insane.
First, it was “Eat the Rich.”
Now it’s “Eat the Old.”
YES!
Int their minds the OLD ARE WORTHLESS.
so what , the compost waits a week after pelosi care is voted in the middle of a Sat nite to break the bad news ??
What a shock !
Love that this is coming out in the WashPost. They seem to finally be waking up to what we all said back in the Summer of ‘08 about him.
No, they are sane.
These people are EVIL.
They know exactly what they are doing.
MURDER the unborn that a “mother” doesn’t want at YOUR expense.
Now they want to MURDER the OLDER FOLKS that people may not WANT.
It weeds out the OLD and YOUNG by depriving them of care.
I was suprised at that too -
the Washington Post leans LEFT.
I’d expect this from the Washington Times.
This is the Dem’s overall approach. No, it’s a Big Government Hegelian approach.
Make things worse, then offer more, bigger government to fix things right up.
It’s the 75% reimbursement rate for medicare/medicaid et al that drove costs up for everyone else, leading to the current “crisis” that only more government can solve.
These are evil people running Washington now - EVIL.
Well, who else is going to supply the Soylent Green chips?
hospitals and nursing homes . . . could stop taking Medicare altogether
Hey! That's my line.
Palliative End of Life Optimum Serenity Initiative (PELOSI).
They are not insane.
THe lnext step is to make it law, a condition of licensure, that every doc in the country take medicare. That is what the plan is.
Mark my words.
Government always takes over something, charges more and reduces services every time.
“Int their minds the OLD ARE WORTHLESS.”
I wonder if the little liberal minds will change when they become “old?”
It seems that increasing numbers of observers are coming to understand that this bill has nothing to do with improving the health care system, which is already the best in the world by far. This is only about improving government’s grip on the country and providing an unassailable power base for the Democrat party. This will bring a one party system to America, which is exactly what the architects of this plan intend.
It’s stealing.....no matter how you cut it....That money belongs in the Medicare kitty....not to be moved to Obomination Care.

AARP says: Anybody who looks at immigration has to look at aging, says Harry R. Moody, director of academic affairs at AARP. First, immigration affects the age structure of society by adding younger members to the population, he says. Second, the people who do hands-on care work are immigrants. Look at our nursing homes! We have an image of people picking tomatoes thats not the whole story. Immigrants are the front-line caregivers.
