Hutchinson now faces a number of charges. Sussman listed them as: “AWOL, missing movement, desertion, failing to have a family care plan and disobeying an officer.”

******

When Hutchinson was to be deployed to Afghanistan, she brought Kamani to live with grandma, but after a week, it was too much for Hughes.

She already cares for an ailing mother, a special-needs daughter and a sister who is scheduled to go into the hospital.

“So it’s like I have to...I’m spreading myself thin and I deal with kids all day long, so I have not a break in between anywhere,” said Hughes.

Hughes also does day care in her home.

Her daughter, a 21-year-old single mom couldn’t find anyone else to care for Kamani and failed to show up for her plane to Afghanistan.

Now the real scoop

She did not want to deploy and has been playing the system BIGTIME.

I know that people will read the story above and say she is getting done dirty because they don’t know the real story.

All was cool until 3 days before we had to leave. She shows up at formation, baby in hand saying she has nobody to watch her kid while deployed.

How the hell do you have a Family Care Plan signed and turned in - in August, take leave in September like everybody else THEN 3 days before we fly / were told when we were going to fly “I got nobody to watch my kid?”

C’mon Son!!! GTFOH!!!

To add to it all, prior to a fitness test being given...she has a doctor slip listing a massive variety of physical problems that prevent her from taking a Physical Fitness Test.

She is trying to work the system but failed this trip and is going to be left with two choices, get her ass on the first thing smoking to Afghanistan OR face 5 years in prison (unless she can get pregnant right quick so she can remain on active duty / getting paid and not deploy again).

The news stories really look like she is getting kicked around by the mean old Army but the reality is...she want the money, job security & benifits given by the Army BUT she don’t want to do what we all have to do, deploy.

If she knew how chilled out it is where we are stationed, she would be kicking herself in the ass right about now. Avation units DO NOT go to hardcore battlefield areas, nor do females go to said areas.

She is trying to work the system if you want the REAL truth.

When we came off leave, she showed up at first formation with this crazy ass Mohawk hairstyle as if she was on her way to the club - thinking nobody was going to say anything to her.

I was like WTF??? She know that ain’t authorized hairdress.

She really is NOT military material and act as if she is back on the block.

If the Army REALLY enforced the height / weight standard, there would be so many people kicked out hella soldiers of all ranks uniforms look like spandex because they are so big.

I am glad that DHP could once again get the real story that AIN’T in the press.

According to the family care plan of the U.S. Army, Hutchinson was allowed to fly to California and leave her son with her mother, Angelique Hughes of Oakland.

Asked why she believes the military revoked Hutchinson’s extension, Sussman responded, “I think they didn’t believe her that she was unable to find someone to care for her infant. They think she’s just trying to get out of her deployment. But she’s just trying to find someone she can trust to take care of her baby.”

Sussman told IPS that the Army’s JAG attorney, Captain Ed Whitford, “told me they thought her chain of command thought she was trying to get out of her deployment by using her child as an excuse.”

Major Gallagher, of Hutchinson’s unit, also told Sussman that he did not believe it was a real family crisis, and that Hutchinson’s “mother should have been able to take care of the baby.”

“I’m outraged by this,” Sussman told IPS, “I’ve never gone to the media with a military client but this situation is just completely over the top.”

“What the hell are ANY women doing in the Army?” SERVING THEIR COUNTRY.
If they want to serve their country they should do it from the kitchen as God intended. Read your Bible.

I'm not sure what it's called but I know it has something to do with electrical parts of helicopters. My daughter is also Security Forces. She was deployed to Camp Bucca.

Single military fathers are in the same boat and none are exempt from having a legitimate “Family Care Plan”.

What makes the women so special? Their womb? That’s the problem with some women in the service, they think they’re special instead of equal.

These women want to be treated as equals, yet they won’t assume responsibility for their own actions. If they can’t perform their duties without placing a burden on their fellow servicemembers, then they need to separate from the service. They’re hurting others with their actions.

"So, who is going to take their place?"

How about me? Tell them to wave the age restriction and I will be back in a heartbeat.

Its what I've figured. Saw plenty examples of that routine before I retired. Let the UCMJ fix the problem.

She is at Lackland AFB in Texas. I'm sure your son remembers it well and also you if you were able to attend his BMT graduation. Right now they are using her as desk sargent and she hates it. She is talking about asking to cross train at her 3 year mark in January. She loves the Air Force but not the desk.

Oh goodness I am sure he would agree with her. He hated the few times he’s had desk duty. He especially would never want to go back to Lackland! lol
And yes we were able to attend his graduation which was at once emotional and a point of pride but also frustrating. I also wish I’d bought more souvenirs although since then son has given us several including his original beret and brought us back a flag that flew outside the wire.
Best wishes to your daughter and we will keep her in our prayers!

That's nice, but it didn't address my point about others (mostly men) that have to take up the slack for her poor planning.
And please see the post by the guy that is in the unit.
Very telling.
And the military is not a social welfare agency, it has a mission and day-care is not a core mission.

Dear Mr/Ms Toad,

My statement was not idiotic. It was a comment about the statements on this thread that the mother is responsible for that child existance because she gave birth and therefore she has been scorned. The father deposited his sperm and was just as responsible for creating that child as she was. Until society realizes that two people create a child and not just the mother because she gives birth, we will continue to have fatherless children. It is not OK to father a child and not be a father. Unplanned pregancies can be prevented and it is about time that people realize if he keeps his sperm to himself, there is no unplanned pregnancy.

GET A CLUE and stand up for Innocent children. Both parents need to be held responsible for bringing children into this world, and for raising them.
