Subsidiarity is still Catholic doctrine, though very, very few Priests even know what the word means.
Pope Pius XII in 1948 just before Italy’s national election in which the Communists were favored to win. Another papal quote from Pius XI or Pius XII was: “A servant of God cannot sit down and eat with the devil. Therefore no one who votes communist or believes in communism may be Catholic.” Not a perfect quote but close enough.
