I suggest that those who reference themselves as hyphenated anything, should return to the place they so refer.
I'd like to see Meeshell and Zero return to Africa. They will be welcomed and revered as they wish. In the meantime, America can get back to business!
Bob—you are the plan.
Each of us need to dig in and do something, be vocal, and talk up the good candidates and our principles.
But you already knew that.
Thank you, FRiend.
The missus and I—we’re somewhere in that picture.
I don’t doubt that 9/12 may be marked by future historians as a turning point.
Sarah’s book tour will serve as a platform for her and for others to verbalize a conservative approach to our country’s problems—seize the day—that sort of thing.
As always, I appreciate your great graphics, Jeff.
“Hyphenated Americanism” Speech - Excerpts
Former President Theodore Roosevelt, October 12, 1915, in an address to the Knights of Columbus, Carnegie Hall, NYC.
“There is no room in this country for hyphenated Americanism. When I refer to hyphenated Americans, I do not refer to naturalized Americans. Some of the very best Americans I have ever known were naturalized Americans, Americans born abroad. But a hyphenated American is not an American at all. This is just as true of the man who puts “native” before the hyphen as of the man who puts German or Irish or English or French before the hyphen. Americanism is a matter of the spirit and of the soul. Our allegiance must be purely to the United States. We must unsparingly condemn any man who holds any other allegiance. But if he is heartily and singly loyal to this Republic, then no matter where he was born, he is just as good an American as any one else.
The one absolutely certain way of bringing this nation to ruin, of preventing all possibility of its continuing to be a nation at all, would be to permit it to become a tangle of squabbling nationalities, an intricate knot of German-Americans, Irish-Americans, English-Americans, French-Americans, Scandinavian-Americans or Italian-Americans, each preserving its separate nationality, each at heart feeling more sympathy with Europeans of that nationality, than with the other citizens of the American Republic. The men who do not become Americans and nothing else are hyphenated Americans; and there ought to be no room for them in this country. The man who calls himself an American citizen and who yet shows by his actions that he is primarily the citizen of a foreign land, plays a thoroughly mischievous part in the life of our body politic. He has no place here; and the sooner he returns to the land to which he feels his real heart-allegiance, the better it will be for every good American. There is no such thing as a hyphenated American who is a good American. The only man who is a good American is the man who is an American and nothing else.
For an American citizen to vote as a German-American, an Irish-American, or an English-American, is to be a traitor to American institutions; and those hyphenated Americans who terrorize American politicians by threats of the foreign vote are engaged in treason to the American Republic.
Yes, we are fighting, but if we pause in that effort, those two laws may yet be passed.
We have succeeded in delaying their passage, but the fight is not over. We have to commit to seeing that these laws do not pass, and that their supporters pay a political price for pushing these anti-American laws on us.
The time for demonstration has not passed, but the time for peaceful demonstration will dramatically shorten if this Congress is not brought to heel.
The Tea Parties were not a flop. They galvanized a lethargic, lazy America to take notice of a government and President heel bent on making them slaves.
You cannot expect them to be success. It is the start of a movement which is only seven months old, but is building strength.
Don’t give up—great things are not accomplished in a short time frame.
It will be a long battle, but the forces of darkness will not prevail..
It does not start today. It started long before today. Today it gets stronger, just as it has with every day that has come before.
And we pray for the best but prepare for the worst. Because that is who we are.
Tomorrow it will be stronger still, and as long as we remain vigilant; as long as we remain determined; as long as we stand united against tyranny, we will win in whatever arena they choose to fight us against whatever weapons they choose to deploy.
You are right. We are FREE men and women, and we will NOT stand down.
Right on, Exit! I’ll follow you anywhere—LOL
Thanks, RD!
Hi, Diana!
Looks like Alan Caruba hit the nail on the head. We have never seen a cat like Obama in the Presidency. Imagine a teleprompter having that much power ;)
You’re a good egg, basil! Then again, you ARE a member of the Class of ‘98.
Keep fighting the good fight!
Direct action would indeed solve a lot of problems quickly and permanently. I can see the growing need for it, as do millions of others. The conservative standard-bearer (Sarah?) will have literally an army on hot stand-by, awaiting the call to arms.
But “direct action” means civil disobedience and perhaps violence. Are we really ready for that? Think long and hard before you answer.
Yes, it would be satisfying in the extreme to see some of our Congressional “celebrities” being hanged from street lights. And they richly deserve it!! But once that action is taken, once that line is crossed, then the protest changes from harmless folks carrying clever signs to (in the liberal view) a crazed and murderous mob bent on insurrection and the overthrow of the “lawful” government of the United States. Remember, they don’t trust us with guns, so how are they going to react to violent protest?
Do not for one second think the response to such an act would not be swift and brutal in the extreme. Will the Oathkeepers be enough to keep civilians out of the line of fire? Are you willing to risk your life, your fortune and your sacred honor to find out?
“Direct action” is a dangerous option, but the American people are being pushed to their limit. God alone knows what will happen next.
The day really started on Tax Day in April—but this day is a good one to mark the beginning of the end for Obama and his Commie Crew. We must resolve to elect Conservatives (or at very least Republicans) to congress. We must kink out Nancy P. with our votes. We must support Conservatives. We must volunteer for them we must send they what money we can. We must make sure no Liberals are sent to Washington. First take back the house—then the White House! We were sold a bill of goods from a snake oil salesman —fooled by his fancy talk and high sounding words. We must not make that mistake again.
I have not advocated “direct action”. I have only advocated peaceful means to counter the threat to our freedom.
That being said, I agree with you about the reaction, should we dare to do to our government one tenth of what the libtards have done in the way of direct action in the last 40 years.
The response will be swift and brutal.
But we are not there yet. The 2010 elections are a bellwhether of the next Presidential election. The election of 2012 will either be like 1860 or 1980, in my opinion.
I also agree with your comment that the American people are being pushed in a direction that more and more each day find wrong. That is dangerous for any government to do, let alone a government of free people.
And how broken is our electoral system in which such a person could ascend to that office!
