She was also mayor before becoming governor, so I think she indeed does have more time in office than Barry. HOW long was he in the Senate? Like the blink of an eye.

I don’t agree. I think she did what she thought was right for her and her state. If that is the only drum her opponent is going to beat then they have very little to oppose her with. And considering her conservative beliefs in this time of rampant radicalism I don’t give a damn that she left office. Only that she was driven out by being nearly bankrupted by lawsuits and ethics complaints that went nowhere. She’ll get that message out if she runs.

I am talking about major elective office, so I don’t count Obama in the state senate but I also don’t count Palin in the mayor’s office (if we were talking about a major city that would be different).

“I don’t give a damn that she left office”

Millions will. I was shocked and disappointed. She had less than a year and a half left so she should’ve just finished her term.

“Only that she was driven out”

That IS her problem. Forget all the drama (true or imagined) that the media spun around her which WAS her problem before she resigned. As if she needed another challenge.

I already said I don't count mayor of a small town as major elective office just like I don't count Illinois state senator as major elective office. But if you want to count total time in office Obama has been in office continuously since 1997. Palin has been on and off although she pre-dated him in entry. Who cares? No one is counting back that far and for offices that minor. What counts is that Obama is now the president. If the public perceives in 2012 that he has done even an "ok" job in office (read: 45-50% approval) that's going to count for quite a bit. But what hurts Sarah Palin is that she has only 2-1/2 years of executive experience and then she suddenly (read mediaspeak: erratically) resigned. She won't have any more than that. So at the very least the argument that she has more executive experience won't work in 2012. Unless 2012 shapes up to be a tidal year she will find it very difficult to unseat him even if he's in the 42-47% approval range. And probably impossible if he's above that.
