US President Barack Obama came to office promising hope and change. But on climate change, he has followed in the footsteps of his predecessor George W. Bush. Now, should the climate summit in Copenhagen fail, the blame will lie squarely with Obama.

DER SPIEGEL: “If the rest of the world were to follow the US example in their approach to fossil fuels, the oceans would not only heat up, but would probably soon begin to boil.”

Europe has fed off the U.S. economy for 60 years and remains free today only because of American military power. The “US example” is what gives goofy editorialists the freedom to write their science fiction.

Deserves repeating:

“DO NOT take your eyes off Copenhagen. All it takes is for Hillary or some other agent of the US government to sign something and we’ll be committed to cap and trade, whether in reality or under the table.”

Any treaty must be ratified by the Senate with a two-thirds vote. Not going to happen.

I got as far as, ‘By the authority vested in me as President by the Constitution and the laws of the United States of America,’

I don’t think so.
I stopped reading right there.

I agree this is a good failure, but aren't you worried about the image of the United States after 8 years of Bush? Obama has done such a good job aboard repairing our image.... well except for the following:

Insulting the PM of UK by returning a bust of Churchill

Insulting the Queen of England with sophomoric gifts

Bowing to the Saudi's

Pissing off Sarkozy with delaying the announcement on the secret nuclear Iranian site.

Alienating Israel by demand halting to West Bank Settlements.

The Palestinians don't want us "helping" anymore.

Shafting Poland on Missile defense.

Shafting Czech on Missile .

Honduras is wondering if we support democracy and rule of law.

China laughs at our "strong" dollar policy.

No trade agreement for Columbia, sending the signal the WAR on Drugs not worth it.

To hell with Iranian dissidents.

Bow to the Emperor of Japan (Gee WWII veterans, that war against deity, just kidding.

Calling Pakistanians liars.

AGW - Anthropogenic (human-caused) global warming is — almost — right up there with Original Sin.

I plead Not Guilty to both.

He makes it against federal law for gov officials sub/contracters to text while driving. Who in the hell is going to pull over joe gov official with his gov plates cruising down an interstate 120 miles an hour for text messaging? Obama is a dolt. What a Rahm waste of time.

Very good assessment! 0bama and the dims can't get anything done the right way, but if they have the opportunity they can think of 100 ways to do it illegally or under the table.

IF Hillary aspires to any public office in her future I do not see her getting anywhere near this. I think this will be shuffled off to the umbrella of the UN.

They can sign anything they want at Copenhagen, unless it gets ratified by the Sentate, it won’t mean a thing. There are still some things that Obama can’t do by executive decree (at least for now.)

I am inclined to agree with Madison, whom you quoted on your page (good information by the way): Were the President to commit any thing so atrocious as to summon only a few states, he would be impeached and convicted, as a majority of the states would be affected by his misdemeanor.

On the other hand, these days nothing would surprise me.

I don’t think so. Anything signed at Copenhagen is merely a symbolic agreement unless a treaty is ratified by two thirds of the senate. There’s no way that can happen. Cap and trade is DOA in the senate regardless of what happens in Copenhagen.

Hundreds of pompous, overstuffed PhD’s are going to look really foolish in another ten years when we go another decade with rising CO2 levels but without any increase in global temperatures. At a scientific level, it’s starting to look like some PhD’s screwed up their AGW theory because they’ve greatly underestimated the ability of the oceans to radiate heat away from the earth. So while CO2 may initially capture additional energy from the sun, that energy doesn’t stay on the earth and doesn’t build up over time. AGW theory will end up being a classic example for the ages of people foolishly jumping on the bandwagon for fun, profit, and a sense of purpose in their lives.
