The old “I accidentally shot and killed my friend while hunting” excuse. Let’s wait and see if there’s some insurance policy or something extracurricular between these two.
I am also EXTREMELY suspicious of shooting deaths that occur “accidentally” while cleaning a gun. I’ve cleaned guns lots of times before and can’t imagine someone trying to clean a loaded gun.

I have come to the conclusion that most of those are actually "I don't want to admit I was messing around with it and being stupid" events. All the ones I have seen details of the person had no cleaning suppilies around and was either 'trying to figure out how it worked' or just plain playing with the gun.

Last year a friend of mine blew his cousin’s finger off when they were messing with a muzzle loader they couldn’t get to fire. “Lewis, put your finger near end of the barrel and see if you feel any air coming out”....BANG!...Lewis now has four fingers on one hand.
